We have a brand new 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport with a tranny issue, truck is 3 months old and this started with around 500 miles on it. They replaced torque converter and now it is worse.....it is an automatic but when starting from a slow acceleration it shudders like it cannot find first gear. Once you reach a higher acceleration, it stops. It has progressively gotten worse and they tell me ok to drive it. Goes back to dealer this week. Anyone else having problems?

Any more detail? Sounds like it’s just the “normal” transmission gear hunting issues they have. Does it have the latest TSB applied to it? Sometimes from a dead stop they tend to studder like it dies before it catches gear, and they also have their gear hunting.

Keep very detailed records. Review your states lemon law criteria.

yea could be low trans fluid too. Just take in and tell them to check the fluid level. Be prepared to have it there for a few hours because they will have to wait for the fluid to cool..

If you can consistently make it happen, take a tech for a ride with you when you go to the dealer

I took a tech for a ride in mine. The service director drove it for himself. Mine doesn't sound as bad as this guys but I am starting my lemon process now.
