Hello, new here. 2003 Taco 2wd base model AT 255k miles. got milkshake trans fluid. replaced radiator, flushed with 4 gallons of trans fluid. A few months later, wont go into reverse after driving for about 30 minutes. After it cools down over night it will go into reverse again.. Fluid is a little overfull. Its like it locks up when I put into reverse sometimes I have to gas it real hard to get it to go and sometimes it won't move at all. Only in drive will it work after hot. Any thoughts? Thank you!

You're still dealing with milkshake issues, I know you said flushed but 4 quarts isn't a flush by half, sounds like you only drained and filled.

I can about guarantee you still had/have water/coolant in the torque converter and transmission.

I would keep draining and filling and praying once a week for a few weeks and start looking for a used low mile transmission if things don't improve.

    sorry I for the confusion.

    step 1 milkshake
step 2 replaced radiator, no more milkshake
    step 3 reverse issues.

its a temp related issue, maybe valve body, trying to understand what heat has to do with no going into gear or locking up reverse. also maybe fluid still contaminated thinking about draining some more fluid. if the clutch packs are worn would it be more evident when hot?
