    Hi All

I have a 2010 tacoma V6 Auto 4x4 TRD and the transmission mount is bad. I bought a new mount (called an insulator engine mt 12183c) part number 12371-0P030.

    Questions: -
    1. do i need to remove the crossmember to get the old mount out and the new mount in?
    2. what are the torque specs?
4 large bolts holding the mount to the trans
4 small bolts holding the mount to the cross member
bolts holding the cross member to the frame (if needed).

    Thanks
    Gareth

    Thanks for the diagram.
The dealer told me i need a new mount that is why i bought one and i intend to install it myself but looking at it the old one looks good, the rubber isn't cracked or broken but it might have sagged (see picture).
I assume that i will need to support the transmission to remove the mount but where do i support the transmission? do i put a jack under the transfer case or the transmission pan?

    Thanks

    The old mount had sagged.

Install a new trans mount: -
    1. Jack up the front of the car
    2. I removed a small metal skid plate from the drivers side, attached to the cross member to make it easier to get to the mount bolts.
    3. I took out the 4 bolts that attach the trans to the mount.
    4. I jacked up the trans with a block of wood on the transmission pan
    5. I removed the 4 bolts that attach the mount to the cross member
    6. With the trans jacked up a little i was able to remove the mount without removing the cross member
    7. put the new mount in place
    8. Finger tight the 4 bolts that hold the mount to the cross member
    9. Carefully lower the trans onto the mount, I had to jack it up and down and I used a pry bar to get the holes lined up
10 Bolt the trans to the mount
    11. Torque all the bolts to the specs on the diagram above (right side bolts are a guess as you cannot get a decent sized torque wrench in the tight space)
    12. re-fit the metal skid plate
    13. Take it for a drive to see if everything is working ok.

    all appears OK.

No special tools are required and I would think most people can do the repair.
