I recently replaced the clutch and TOB on my 06 Tacoma Prerunner. The truck as 4.0L with the 6spd, rear-wheel drive. While working on it I noticed the transmission mount was pretty shot. I tried to replace it and the plate for the mount was too narrow, my transmission would not drop down into the cup so I could tread the bolts in. When I took the mount back out I measured and it is indeed 1/4 inch narrower than the old mount. I wrote it off as a defective part and ordered a new mount from rock auto. This one was also 1/4 inch too narrow!

Has anyone run into this problem? any advice? the mounts look identical but one is just a little too narrow.

I figure I have two options. Either try to bend the new one wider.. or see if the double the price dealer mount will fit... I appreciate any advice you guys have. Thank you in advance.

    New and Old

    New Mount 3 1/4 Inches

    Old Mount 3 1/2 Inches

there goes that toyota reliability if you keep putting rock auto and auto zone crap on it. Stick to oem. Give the parts guy the vin and he’ll het you the right part. gl

I used a step bit and enlarged the holes. It's a common issue with aftermarket.

The last one I installed on a buddies I injected a bunch of polyurethane to strengthen it. It seems to be the weak point after upgrading the rest of the drivetrain
