Yes, when practical and at all stop situations. I won't be "that guy" constantly on the brakes.

Our Engine/Trans combo has no balls in the low RPM range. If you want it to "go" you have to drive it accordingly. Toyota gave us the tools, but you can bet they didn't meet EPA regs by using those tools. I still get what I consider to be great mileage and I put it in the range that it likes all the time.

This is easy to check. Just press the ect button while doing 25 or so and tip in the throttle. Way more response when ect is on. Truck doesn't need to shift gears to test it out. I actually find ect mode to be too touchy for everyday driving myself.

There's definitely a difference in throttle respond with ect engaged. I too find it too much for everyday driving. I also find it shifts really rough and causes the engine to be even louder than it already is.

Well I dropped my truck off this morning and was told they have a new software update for the transmission. The problem I was experiencing were very common and should be fixed with the update. Hope it works, will let you know over the next few day.

I wish we had the throttle response that ECT has and the shifting was the only thing that changed.

I may or may not keep it when my lease is up maybe by 2020 they will have it all fixed, with options for leather in the off road and power seats...

People have been waiting for power seats since the 2005 redesign.
My friends 2006 Frontier has power seats for the driver and passenger.
    Don't get your hopes up.

It still baffles me that the Tacoma is probably the only vehicle in Toyotas lineup without height adjustable seats. My brother had a 1982 Supra which had more seat adjustments then the Tacoma has.

It's almost like there trying to be like Jeep Wranglers by not doing the power seat thing.

On another note when going around 3mph I have on occasion stepped on the brake and got a spring pop like feel in the brake pedal. They could not get it to duplicate and was told if it starts to happen more often to bring it in and Toyota will be notified and will want to see what is causing the problem.

After driving my truck, it's not bad! It stays at what seems at lower gear to keeps the rpms up and it has better throttle response form 1000-1500. Maybe I'm just wanting it to be run better, will see over time.

I have noticed the same speed at low RPM low throttle input. Almost feels like a misfire. I'm sure they'll say it's normal.

Little update, I will not be keeping this when the lease is up. I was planning on keeping and doing all kinds of upgrades but now I'm not investing any money into it. Sad cause I love the truck just can't deal with the shift/ low hp issues. Maybe the 20 will be fixed or I'll get a 4Runner?
