Hey everyone, This is my first post since I just bought a used 2016 Tacoma manual 4wd 2 weeks ago.
Unfortunately the previous owner lied about many things including a leak in either the transmission output shaft seal or the transfer case seal input shaft seal that he made sure he wiped up before I looked at the truck.
The leak is appearing where these two components come together.
By the colour of the fluid I’m assuming it’s the transfer case input shaft seal because it’s more of an amber colour where the transmission oil is a little darker but I want to have both seals on hand when I pull it apart.

Toyota has two different part numbers for the seals,90311-43008 transfer case input seal.
    90311-43007 transmission output seal.

SKF has a seal that they say only fits the TC input shaft while national suggest their seal fits both the TC input shaft and the transmission output shaft. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I’m placing an order with rock auto, and I just want to make sure that I have the right parts.

Thanks for the help in advance.
    Cheers,
    Clayton

I always change both its the right choice. Also check the breather lines while you're in there.

As for the part I'd go oem as its so much freaking work to remove and replace, I'd rather have the correct part 100% instead of risking an immobile truck due to wrong part. I don't usually suggest OEM that often.

Thank you, I was looking at replacing both I just have to find a proper blowup of the transfer case.
Every blowup I find it looks like there is a cover with two seals in it on the transfer case however I can only find one seal listed.
I guess if I go Toyota route which is about 30 bucks each for a seal here in Canada that I don’t have to guess
