Hey guys, any of you experience transmission not shifting into gear correctly when it suppose too? happened to me twice when driving up hill and transmission suppose to shift but it starts to rev. Second time was after I had the transmission fluid checked I was driving down a hill and it felt like it was suppose to shift but it was just reving. It felt like it didn't shift all the way into gear. I could rev the engine as if the car was parked or in neutral. revs got up to 3000 rpm, I let off the gas and it would grab regular.

I have found the tranny is just not what everyone is used to. It is eletronic not vacum based control. If you apply brakes going down hill the tranny senses this and will down shift, to help with braking. When brakeing for a stop as you approach 30 mph the tranny will down shift. The more you drive w/o cruise control it will learn driving habits and gas mpg will improve. We all have been guessing at it's problems. I think it is just new technology that was not explained by Toyota. There is a learning curve.

Ive found that if it has started to downshift while going downhill you can expect it to rev up before it disengages the internal engine braking and goes back into gear. It can be annoying because its not always consistent about when it decides it wants to begin downshifting. I have a small dip in the road on a sharp curve where it loves to do this all the time yet on a really steep hill I can never get it to do it.

Do you have any technical documentation from toyota to validate this claim?

Just took my 2016 in yesterday. It was shifting rough after 1k mile esp when cold. It was 3/4 quart low. Now it does not hesitate when changing from reverse to drive.

You have 2 years roadside assistance, and a warranty on the truck. Rev that MFer up til something blows, have them come tow you to the nearest dealer, get a tranny replaced under warranty, and then this time they will make sure it is filled properly.:D Seriously though, were you there when they ¨checked¨ the fluid level the first time. There seems to be many techs that are just hooking techstream up to it and saying there are no codes, everything looks good. They need to physically check the fluid level and you should request that you watch them do it.

gonna bring it in tomorrow. hopefully they can duplicate the problem. if not i'll have to mount my go pro every time I drive and record my cluster to show them what I mean. hopefully this truck aint a lemon. if it is might have to get a new one but different color.
