I was in a hurry when I was changing my "oil" yesterday. Basically drained the transmission and doubled the oil. I drove it for about 10 miles before I realized what I had done. During those ten miles, the transmission was not shifting correctly and was very laggy. I went home and drained the oil and filled it with the correct amount. I did not do a full transmission flush, but I added the needed amount back in. It is still laggy and not shifting well. Can anyone help me?

I filled the transmission until the fluid starts coming out of the overflow hole. Does it get low again as it runs through the system?

The tranny needs to be filled and checked at a specific temperature range. Someone made this video which is quite helpful:

This is correct. Transmission fluid expands as it warms up. Assuming you had everything cold when you added the fluid I think it's safe to assume you now have too much trans fluid in there.

I rarely recommend taking things to shops unless it's absolutely necessary.

However, I think you might be best served if you took it into a shop, tell them what happened, and have them square everything away for you. It may cost a little bit, but it'll be well worth the peace of mind.
