I was at the dealer today and mentioned if there was a TSB for the transmission. I explained the lag, and he check the computer. He said that there is a TSB for years 07-09 for "Transmission Re-Calbration". I have an appointment next friday.
Anyone out there have this done to there ride??

I've not had it done but I'd love to get it done as I feel the lag sometimes. When I slow down and make a turn it throws the RPM's up to like 2300 when i'm barely on the throttle at all. Then it hops down two gears after a long pause in the higher RPM range.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Ooh, we need the TSB# or the doc itself, that would be very, very handy.

    Nice post.

My truck drives fine and everything is what I consider 'normal' and 'un-nerving to me' - however, it does act weird sometimes. I've just considered it normal.

I'm 'on the fense' wether to consider having this done IF my dealership even knows about it.

For those of you who get it done - post up some info and feedback.

I definately don't wanna bypass this oppurtunity before my warrantee is up. The question is..."should I or shouldn't I?"
I've already had the dealer check my tranny fluid for 'hard shifts' (and while they had it for other things). So, it's not like I haven't given them a notice...(laugh).

soo basically if you don't have a MIL your not getting anything done. Plus I don't want my wire harness all jimmied up..b/c you know it will never go back how it was originally. And that TSB says nothing about reprogramming the transmission

I am having a hard time understaning what I might be looking for as a sign I need this. Difficultly shifting? Noise while shifting.

you don't need this if your MIL light is on...apparently there is another TSB for RE-Calibrating the Transmission

Alright, officially confused. What is a MIL light and how do I check if it is on? And any links for that TSB for Re-calibration?

Ok, figured out what the MIL is, but it should only be on when there is a problem no? How would you check the MIL to see if you need this?

Malfunction Idicator Light i.e Check Engine Light (CEL) Or Service Engine Soon Light (SES)....I wouldnt go drumming up at the dealership trying to get this done b/c they are gonna laugh...this only applies if you have the MIL with the codes listed in the bulletin...there is another bulleting pertaining to Transmission Recalibration...but somehow we got misguided

Thanks, just read up on that and put 2 and 2 together. So the light would have to come onand have error code report inthe tsb right? Good, I have no MIL. I would like to see that recailbration tsb however. We need a copy of that.

Thanks dozer711 for posting the TSB. With all respects to the previous postings, the TSB states that "Some 2005 - 2009 model year Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a MIL "ON" condition.....". The key word here is "may". Just yesterday in my driveway, I started the tacoma, put my foot on the brake and shifted from "Park" to "D". You would think that the whole transmission was going to fall out.

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and see if they will accomplish the test procedure.

My truck has the tranny lag, and I have noticed it idles VERY differently in neutral than when I shift to drive. Does this constitute harsh engagement?

I'll probably bring it up to the local service fellows and take 'em for a ride to see if I can duplicate the issue.
