The only issue i remember was on some early 2016s, they would stick in 6th gear after a long highway ride. A TSB was issued and they put a different spring and ball in.

Trans, radiator and lines were replaced in my '18 at 17K miles when the dealer discovered coolant in the trans fluid.

Felt no difference after the repair was made. It still drives like crap.

Being a fan boy is one of the least consumer friendly things out there. Dont defend a company when they make shit, force them to be better or collapse. I've noticed some taco fan boys are VERY similar to sheeple, i'm seeing people trade in 2016's for 2019 (same truck; BUT IT HAS THIS FEATURE "insert signature for financing here") and even people wanting to trade so they can get a different color (lul). Pretty anti consumer, when buying a truck I only think of brands if they're known for heeping piles of shit, and i've personally found out they're shit (chev) otherwise i'm getting the best bang for my buck regardless of brand. My next truck is likely going to be a frontier, proven reliable and simple (no tranny hunting and too much electronics). Just my opinion though :crapstorm:

My first 2017 Limited had the trans replaced at ~1200 miles, the truck was fine after that (until rear-ended at a redlight that totaled it). My second 2017 Limited has been trouble-free for ~16,000 miles.

I don’t get the current mentality of “I spent my hard earned money and I expect perfection.” It’s a machine. Machines break sometimes. It’s great that Toyota is standing behind its product.

ive owned Toyota trucks from 1983,1995,2004,2014 and have never had a transmission issue or failure EVER, ive owned both manual and automatic transmission models all have clocked over 200k miles plus, ive had 2 manual transmission models with all original clutches functioning well over 230k miles, same goes for the automatics.

so first the truck is revving erratically and the whole transmission is being replaced, then the service tech(someone) mysteriously writes down the wrong mileage and causes the dealership not to investigate the OPs complaints because they believe his warranty has expired?? which in not doing so causes the transmission to be grenaded[IMG]

[IMG] erratic revving and a service tech writing down the wrong mileage causes Transmission replacement, wow that sucks

There's a page devoted to the stick shift operations and faults on here somewhere. Mine personally has the "Normal Operating Characteristic" of rattling like a mofo w/ clutch in or neutral over bumps. Still the better trans, of course, because reasons

Actually, fun fact, you /do/ get to physically see which parts failed if you ask, even under warranty. You get to keep them on customer pay jobs if you want. And it will list the charged out parts on the invoice... or at least it should.

30-50 failures over 3 years, can you enlighten us to what primarily is the part internally of the 30-50 failures that causes this to happen? a complete transmission failure is when the whole transmission needs to be replaced/rebuilt due to a bad part or condition, out of the 30-50 failures what was that condition/part that caused it?
