you've said you've personally seen a lot of 3rd gen trans failures, hacksawmark asked how many you've seen(personally)?, you responded 30-50(+- a trans or 2) within 3 years we are assuming you have personally seen these failures, my question was what was the reason for these failures since you've personally have seen them(no)? now your last post was you don't know what they failed for, so where did you get the number of 30-50 failures in 3 years and where did that info come from? we are assuming you've personally have first hand knowledge on the 3rd gen trans failures(not really?)but you've seen them where?

my take was that he works at a dealership or a place that sees the trannies, but when they are removed its kinda hard to tell whats wrong with them.
toyota just replaces them at takes them off, depending on the code thrown, but whatever the code may be thats not going to tell you whats wrong with the transmission.

would've been a lot easier to say I work at a Toyota dealership and have seen 30-50 trans failures within 3 years, no one really knows where or if the facts? he put out are from, ive never heard of any trans failures with 3rd gens only TSB's to help with the shift points/shifting of the 6 speed auto. he also made mention of 2nd gens having trans issues/failures?, again ive never heard of any and own one.

probably but i would imagine hes not being specific for privacy reasons? nothing wrong with that, have to just take all the info and look at the big picture.

    30 - 50 fails is nothing

after warranty expiring I would imagine very few warrant the total replacement as well.

hopefully we get more info because its interesting none the less.

i think those unsubstansuated statements he made like quote:

I have seen a lot of 3rd gen transmission failures . This is not the first one , nor will it be the last .
We dont get to hear what internal transmission parts are failing while on warranty .
Now that these trucks are starting to get some mileage on them , the aftermarket transmission shops will be taking over and along with this , pattern failures as well as fixes will be outlined just like we saw in the 2nd gen transmissions .Anything mass produced has its problems
    Get ready for the storm

where are the facts other than a random post on the internet:spam:

i guess it still kinda makes sense what hes saying.

transmissions fixed under warranty arent fixed, they are just replaced completely.

warranty is starting to run out on 3rd gens, so once they actually start breaking and people start taking them to third parties we will start seeing what the actual problems are. We will also start figuring out how to fix them and what are the common parts/ common failures on these transmissions.

    currently theres not much info.

The same can be said about engine problems and suspension work.

once we get to 120k miles average on 16s and 17s we will start seeing whats up.

then what about the statement saying 2nd gen trucks had similar trans issues/circumstances, when in fact there weren't any failures due to manufactor, its just more the sky is falling non sense that cant be substantuated with real facts and shouldn't be held as the truth

naw skys not falling at all. transmissions can fail anywhere after 100k miles. just happens.

I would consider that something normal personally, even though Ive never had a transmission fail on me less than 165k miles,I know its a possibility however.

im not living my life worrying about my transmission grenading based on a unsubstantiated post that theres internal transmission issues that don't exist and are imminently coming. if people want to believe that theres a big storm a coming with their trucks transmission and worry themselves sick its a free country, but its a false flag mission from the 3rd gen doom and gloom fanatics. i rest my case your honor.

    It’s the truth.

Toyota never had a single defect until 2016. As the previous poster said, Toyota’s reliability sure went out the window with the 3G. That’s why there is some many happy owners of older Toyota’s still lovin their sweet trucks, like this lil’ red beauty.vvvvv
