you may need to flush it(some people have a phobia about flushes)or drain and fill it till the fluid looks new
add a shudder additive...if it still does it your torque convertor will probably need replacing

Toyota said the flush will cost around $600 which sounds ridiculous but I can put the converter in myself if I get it. Just trying to weigh my options.

Thats way to much...I would drain and fill it 2 more times and add a additive before i pulled the trigger on a TC...

Just went through this with my GX. It has the A750f.

What I thought was trans shudder was actually a coil going bad. Just my .02. Hope you get it sorted out.

I’m going to try the lubeguard first. Thanks.

I'd do at least a drain and fill and add the lubeguard before I'd go the torque converter route. A better solution would be to do a complete flush per the procedure on TW and then add the lubeguard.

Make sure to use the red tube (shudder fixx) and also the regular bottle of protectant that Lubeguard makes.

I tried the shudder fix and it worked for a while until the converter was beyond shudder fixing.

I never removed a converter from a Tacoma before. Is there enough room to slide the tranny back to remove the converter or does the transmission have to come all the way out?

No you'll have to drop it all the way down. The converter is heavy AF and since it's out it makes it easier to replace the converter seal. I also replaced the rear main seal while I was at it. I recommend you get a trans jack like the one in the pic. Harbor Freight special. Word of advice - before you take the old converter out lay a marker flat against the converter and turn the converter to mark on the trans tunnel. This shows you how far in the TC is so when you install the new one it's the same depth. If the TC is not deep enough and you fire it up you will destroy the trans pump and converter.

Nicely done. Yeah I have a pretty sturdy trans jack. I think I have to take the center section of my exhaust off after the cats because I plan on removing it like you did and leaving the transfer case connected. Doesn’t seem that bad. Thanks for the tip. Run into any headaches?

Not really, I was done in about 6 hours start to finish. With the transfer case still connected the assembly teetered towards the rear so make sure you keep your hands on it.
