I had it on my Gen 2, and now on my Gen 3. When I asked the dealer about it on the Gen 2, answer was normal, so I'm not bothering this time around. Truck lurches when stopped at red light and the air conditioning/defrost kicks in. Just some increased engine revs from the accessories kicking in, me thinks.

Your tranny is low my man... my '06 was also... the 2nd gens had some of the same low fluid issues... check it or your tranny might be toast after the warranty is up...!!

Already been in to the dealer and topped up. You can tell the slight lurch is coming from the Air Con cause the revs take a slight increase and you can hear the pump kick on. I don't think the tranny is the cause when the truck isn't rolling, it's engine revving it a little and light on the brakes.

I went in yesterday and used all the symptoms you guys mentioned just to get them to check it. I, myself, didn't notice anything weird with the tranny, but I wanted peace of mind. I didn't even talk about cost. Estimate was $130. Turns out, tech was able to replicate one of my "symptoms" and they opened up a TSB. Apparently, techstream told them nothing was wrong, but they checked anyway and everything is good to go. I have no way of knowing if they actually did, but I have a paper trail now, which is all I really wanted. It does seem to drive better, but that could be just me and reinforcement bias.

Going in for a second check on Monday. Still feels like it's slipping in reverse to forward, although not as bad as before, and now has clunk from 2nd to 1st on occasion. Never had that before, so raises a few concerns. Service advisor told me it's happening with a lot of vehicles sold with the tow package, suggest those with early Gen 3's with tow package that are experiencing these issues to have them checked. Also recommend leaving them overnight, so they can run them from cold.

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 min. I had the same issue with mine after ATF topoff which was months ago (1qt low) and i decided to try to disconnect the battery to clear the trans learning. Well, sure enough, the damn thing drive WAYYYYYY better after disconnecting the battery for 30 min. I would give it a try as well and see if that either fixes or at least helps it. Let us know the results if you try it!

LOL. Air con kicks in when defrost is on. Not that warm here in BC. Mid teens during the day, but ya, no snow here in Van.

Feeling your pain with the snow!

I've had this problem with my '15, I towed a trailer cross country 2x , and a 3rd trip w/o, had shift issues, including banging into OD.
After several trips complaints at the dealer the fluid level was checked, over 3/4 qt low, still had shift issues after.
Went back, master tech verified the issue, so he reset the learn mode, actually seems better, but I'm going to push for extended warranty for the trans.
Toyota better step up it's game or they'll be just like the rest of the mfg.
Dumb move to eliminate the dipstick!

Service call determined 1/2 quart low on second visit. This morning there was absolutely no hesitation reverse to drive in the morning. I'm surprised 1/2 quart can make that much of a difference, but we'll see over time if anything resurfaces.

hope that fixes it. Me on the other hand... I am still having intermittent lagging R to D shifts and now a pretty constant shudder when coming to a stop. It will get checked out again for the 8K service which is coming up quick.

It's been out for 3 days now and it's solid in the morning. Keeping my fingers crossed that this issue is now over. Funny, on Monday when I dropped it off I mentioned that you had been there twice with the same issue. He remembered you and said the first time they checked your fluid they would have preferred it to be there overnight but the second time all was done correctly, so he felt your issue was gone now. Think they will be surprised to see you back with the same issue.

Hope all goes well for you this time around!

I'm only at 2600K, but couldn't take the slippage anymore, was driving me crazy.

Odd because I waited there the first visit while it cooled down and was told that all the correct temperature values were met for the fluid level check. I am glad they did it a second time but am thinking there might be other things going on inside these transmissions than just low fluid. Time will tell... lol

I should add that all temperatures and parking conditions being somewhat equal, it only does the laggy R to D shift approx 20% of the time. The rest of the time it shifts solid.
