    I have a 2013 Tacoma TrD Sport.
Lately when I accelerate from a stop and reach 30mph it feels like the rear end starts to vibrate. I took it to a Toyota dealership and the mechanic said that there is torque converter shutter, nothing wrong with the rear end. He said that they could flush it and that could possibly make the shutter go away. He also said that it’s not causing any damage and that it is more of an annoyance. Truck has 94k on it and has never had a transmission flush. Curious if anyone has ever had this issue and if so did the flush fix it. Don’t want to spend $250 on something that doesn’t help and could harm. Thanks

Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
Do a drain and fill of the pan. You'll get some out and replace it with new.
I don't know about yours, but the earlier years were coming underfilled.
There are many threads on the subject.
    Welcome to TW.

I bought a 2009 DCLB from a buddy and noticed transmission shutter consistently between 30-45mph. I initially thought it was the driveline (U-joints) going out. I brought the truck to my buddy who is a service manager at a Toyota dealership for the U-joint recall and they diagnosed the issue as transmission shutter.

To save money, I followed the transmission flush DIY found here on TW. It bought 14 quarts of Valvoline Max life ATF and flushed the ATF. I also added a tube of Lubegard Shutter Fix. It took me all day, but that's because I was paranoid and triple checked the DIY instructions. As mentioned a few posts up, I believe my AT was under filled as my initially drain only netted 2 quarts of oil fluid instead of 3. Also, the fluid was almost like black sludge. I have only 50 miles so far after the DIY but my AT no longer shutters.

I know there are a lot of differing opinions about ATF flushing. I'm thankful for TW as the DIY saved me hundreds, potentially thousands of $$$

I just finished fixing my shudder problem 9 mostly felt at around 25-35 mph during light/normal acceleration).
I did 4 drain and fills, plus added 15 oz Lubeguard Premium and (2) two ounce tubes of Lubeguard shutter fix. After first test drive, I still noticed the shutter but it was less frequent and less intense. During second test drive, the shutter was all gone! I followed several instructional threads on this site and got help from Tacoma World member GearCruncher as well - thanks.
Good luck with you effort - hopefully you will have the same results.

Hello all, so I got the Flush done by a Toyota dealer yesterday. As they told me it may not fix the problem and could take more then one flush for the shutter to go away. I will say that now the flush has been done I notice the shutter is stronger . Almost like the flush made it worse. Has anyone had this issue happen after the flush? I plan on flushing it again Monday to see if that helps.

Are you sure the dealer actually flushed the transmission? I contacted several dealerships about a transmission flush before I DIY'd. They all claimed they could do a transmission flush, however, once I asked more questions, the process they described was just a drain and fill and not a full flush.

Also, you can try and add a tube of Lubegard and see if that helps as well.
