They don’t affect your warranty? I would have thought the exact opposite.

Yeah every change in ECU programming has the potential to end up in an issue with a warranty claim. All depends on how far a dealer is willing to investigate.

I also feel the transmission sucks. The ratio between gears is all too drastic. Its lug lug lug or smack redline to get up and go. I will never buy another tacoma because of the transmission. Heck, my shitty beater nissan cube with a CVT transmission shifts better than this thing.

This was the number I was looking for. I just hit 850 miles on my new TRD OR and the tranny is still being dense.

Check the tune threads and see what people are saying about their experiences at the dealerships. Never has there been an issue. And if you are still worried they may dig deep into the ECU for some reason and your tune be possibly detected then first take it to your local tune installer and have him do a quick flash back to stock and then back to tuned after your visit. Or don't get the tune at all and live with the shitty stock tune and cring everytime you drive your truck. Up to you

I guess I'm one of the few, or perhaps one of the many that doesn't have this experience.

Could be my driving style - steady as she goes - the truck shifts when I expect it to and isn't janky at all.

Let the truck break-in. Give it 3,000 miles or so before exploring the Tune options.

Nope, I never use cruise control. In fact I think cruise control should be illegal. It breeds laziness and distracted driving. It's also a crutch for tired and/or drunk people who shouldn't be behind the wheel.

And yes I've driven long distances. Driven from NJ to AZ and back without it multiple times. And do 6-8 hr trips to NC and New England multiple times a year for the last 20 some odd years.

Towing with cruise control on is doubly stupid. For reasons that shouldn't need to be explained to anyone with common sense.

I really think that this is what throws most people. The learning algorithm on this truck is freakishly long. Like a 1/3 of the way until the first service is due, long.

My tranny has been great from day one. Never had it tuned. Just wait till it is broke in be patient give it a chance.
The tranny must be having a hard time understanding your driving habits are they erratic or not. just saying

Transmission is great on all trucks. Programming is pretty terrible on all trucks, they are all the same. It bothers some people and it doesn't bother others. I think mostly depends on driving style and what previous vehicles a person is coming from. Like if you came from something with a DSG or at all more sporty, the Tacoma driving experience stock could be downright infuriating for example.

That is awesome, I'm keeping it to use in all forums. Nobody solves problems anymore they just bitch about them.

Some people liked to get whipped pleasure, doesn't mean it's normal. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cruise while towing. In fact I think it should be mandatory. Nothing I hate more than these non-cruise people fluctuating there speed all the damn time. You change lanes to pass and suddenly they speed up. Perhaps a hefty fine

Exactly, i find the stock tune fine. Truck shifts very smooth, and when its suppose to. I'm getting to think many couldn't wait to properly break them in to their driving style, and used the S and ECT modes that confused the transmission's learning process. So far i haven't found any use for the ECT button....maybe never will.

Being Friday and all, I'm just going to go ahead and say it:
If you guys were manly enough to drive a Manual Transmission, you wouldn't have this issue.

I haven't had a problem with my transmission shifting since the day I bought it new. It shifts right on time for me, it like it reads my mind. Oh, I almost forgot to add,,, it's a MT!
