I found the reference to TSB 0077-16 on this forum. When I initially called the dealer asking about having the software update and referenced a technical service bulletin had been issued for the 2016 Tacoma, the service desk searched the computer and said there was no TSB for the 2016 Tacoma. Luckily my service advisor is on the ball and when I gave her the exact number, she found it and I had the software update performed. My 2016 Tacoma now runs significantly better with the issues well documented on this forum. You need to give them the exact TSB number and be persistent because I suspect they don't want everyone who has purchased a 2016 Taco coming in for the upgrade, thus proving the point that they missed the mark on the original transmission software specs. Just my opinion but appreciate this forum for giving me the actual TSB to go to the dealer. It has made a big difference.

According to the dealership here in Canada there is a new (or revised?) TSB out as of Dec 20, 2016. This is a seperate and completely new and not the same as the earlier TSBs that were created to deal with shifting issues. Had the truck in because of hard clunk when coming to a stop. Truck has been performing better since the update, but as with the previous updates - time will tell if the problem resurfaces following putting a few miles on her.

If you get the TSB number for the update could you please post it? Asking for it by name is much easier.

I did ask for the TSB number however they were unwilling to share it with me. I guess because it is so new... Perhaps ask dealers to look up the date when it was released? Maybe they can find it that way.

I'm at Community Toyota, Baytown TX and these guys are refusing to do the TSB. This is the second time I've brought it here and its gonna be the last of they don't fix it. And yes, my VIN is on the TSB.

Mine has had the update twice now and I still get the clunk when coming to a stop. Have you had much luck with it going away?

So the service tech tells me they are updating the ECM but this isn't the TSB. What the hell does that mean? The TSB is to update the ECM.

It was better right after getting it back from the dealership but just like last time I feel it starting to revert back to the clunk and shakiness when decelerating. Its the only issue I have with the truck.

It downshifts way too late and then CLUNK drops out of gear and you get a big jolt to your back. Kind of unsafe if you end up braking late and coming up close to the car in front of you. If I'm not paying attention and anticipating the clunk, it could send me into their rear bumper.

I totally agree it's almost a late surge and then a last second shift into first and an audible noise along with a jolt you can feel for sure. I took it in of course they couldn't recreate it. Hmmmmm

Well, I have 19K on the clock now and it shifts better I'd say. I'm pretty used to it and drive the crap out of my truck and get 20-22 mpg consistently. I do 50% city 50% highway. I'm pretty happy with it and have read so much that I've learned it's really designed to keep in higher rpms and my mileage is better too driving the way I do. The only real complaint I have is the delay I have running the AC when I pull out into traffic. It takes a couple more split seconds than I would like, but I've learned to manage.

All in all, I'm happy with all the issues I've had. I'd buy it again if I had to do over or a tundra. We recently adopted, so it'd be nice to have that extra room but I don't want 13 mpg as much as I drive.

Ever since I quit obsessing over everything and quit reading about everyone else's problems on here, I've been much happier :) No offense to any members about that statement either.

Get out and drive your trucks ;)

I'm just going to verify what I read. It says it is covered under the emissions warranty which is good to 80k, correct? I've got 65k on my 16 (bought it used) and want to have this done. Previous owner did mostly interstate driving so I get why it wasn't an issue to him. I do mostly backroad driving and I get why this TSB was issued.

Check your VIN against the REV1 TSB in the sticky at the top. If your VIN matches and you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed I would have them perform the TSB.

I got my car from the same dealership and hate that place.

I just found this thread, did you ever get the update? Is there any other tsb I should know about? My steering wheel, gas pedal and truck vibrates a lot accelerating(2016 dclb trd sport 20miles here)
