Seems like this TSB may be US-only. Toyota mechanic buddy says it doesn't exist (at least here in the great white north).

I never said I got the TSB. I said they flashed my ECU, which is the terminology the dealership used when I had it done.

I actually have my 10,000 miles service scheduled for next Tuesday and will ask them to perform this TSB while I'm there. This is the same dealership that finally listened to me when I was having my transmission issues, and if they give me any flak or deny that this TSB exists I can show them the copy of the TSB I'll have with me when I take the truck in.

I contacted my service representative this morning and he had loaded T-SB-0077-16 on the vehicle he was proved by the dealership to try and understand the different problems associated with the Tacoma. He indicated it corrected the issues with the ones identified. I took my truck in this morning and had the fix installed and now I can say it is 100 percent better. It actually changes gears as you would expect. I am finally happy with the trans issue. My other concerns are the brake vibration issue and the drive shaft vibration issue. I have been told there is a TSB in process of being developed for the drive shaft. The brake issue has not been addressed. Will have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah, but in your case (as in the squeaky rear end) they still admitted that it was present and still wouldn't do anything about it.

Doubt the slow learner is the truck. It's more like you've driven the thing for 8,000 miles and have become more used to it.

Quite possible that I've recalibrated my "throttle position to engine output ratio" expectations. I guess I'll find out when I get the re-flash.

Sorry, have to say it, a year ago I and others stated that this car engine and transmission are not going to work well in a truck. All we got was how full of shit we where because new technologies will blow the 2nd gen poor mans truck out of the water. Waters not to nice now, is it. Say all you want, that combo sucks.

I think someone is a little salty they bought a new truck and the body style changed the next year. It's okay, I probably would be too.

My dealer called me yesterday to let me know it as out.

I think I'll wait to see how it works out for other people.

    The combo is great

Knee jerk response. Wouldn't buy a 3rd gen. Until I see the flash shut up all your bitchings about this "new" model, I stand by my comment.

Went in today and had it done. Hopefully fixes what it says it does. I drive way to damn much for it to be acting the way it does. 17,600+ miles in 6 months.

All your comment was saying was, " I was right a year ago saying this engine and tranny combo is gonna suck" based on
    1) A truck you do not own (don't even know of you've driven one)
    2) The knowledge of people complaining about the transmission, which this update has possibly fixed (we will see how the feedback goes)

The motor is still just as powerful. So coming to the thread saying you were right about the engine and tranny combo sucking is not adding anything to the conversation besides saying "told you so" based on an opinion you have by reading other people's posts about the trans.

Just look at the 3rd gen section, almost everyone is complaining about the trans. Right now there are 4 threads about this TSB because the present state of tune sucks. I don't need to own one to see the problems, just read here. The potential is there, no problems in a Lexus line up. Right now no fucking way would I own one, and new vehicals are my weakness. Can't even imagine towing with no torque off idle, and no trsns flash is going to fix that. Car engine and transmission in a truck.

So you form opinions by just reading things on the internet huh?

Not every 3rd gen owner is complaining about the new engine / transmission combination, many obviously like it based on sales numbers. I've been very happy with mine in the last four months I've had it.

One thing I've noticed, current 2nd gen owners seem to have problems with the new truck even when they've never owned one.
