Just got mine back after dropping it off yesterday Fremont Toyota did the TSB update and I swear it's quicker off the line and smoother through 1st to 4th , punch it at 55 and it move out faster
    And I don't believe it's a placebo effect !!

My dealer looked this up for me and confirms that it is for the 2GR engine only, which is the 4cyl. I do see 2GR on the Engine Applicability on the actual TSB - is this the case that it is the 4cyl only?

There is a 4cyl version of this yes, however this one is for the 6cyl 3.5L motors. They either didn't check or checked the wrong TSB #. I took the number in with me and had them do it last week. Trans runs MUCH smoother now.

    The 2GR-FKS is the 3.5L V6. The 2TR-FE is the 4 cyl.

So my f'in dealer is a moron... gotcha.

They tried to tell me my truck had a 7gr engine - I thought that sounded wrong. The 7gr is a lexus RX motor.

I'm getting my truck in Monday for the TSB and to check the tranny fluid level. Hopefully that fixes my issues. And I'm posting on here so I can find this post easier so the dealership cant screw with me about engines, TSB, ect.

An appointment time does not guarantee that is when they start working on your car.

It guarantees you a spot in line for the services performed for that day.

I got mine done on 2 days ago. It definitely fixed the delay. Cruise control seems a little better.

For the folks that have their stealerships denying them the tsb, here is mine. The update made my v6 dcsb quicker off the line. And i'm not getting anymore quickshift nonsense from 3rd to 4th gear.image.jpg

Yeah biggest issue I still have is the torque is way up high in the powerband so you still have to floor it to get the "GIDDY UP" going. If the affects of the TSB stick, so far (very early yes) then they've made the trans "livable"....lower end torque would be much preferred for a truck however

Just got back from my dealer. No questions asked to do the update. It is better in the 30 miles I drove it so far.

my 2016 3.5/auto has a build date of 7/16 on the door VIN sticker...think it has already been done? I only have 1000 miles on it. No issues as described, but then again I haven't drive a Toyota pickup since 1993.

I've been cautious to post anything, but here goes. I've got 900 miles on mine post TSB. I did a 350 mile hwy round trip, the majority of the rest is city driving, or just outside of town driving.
    • the P/R to D is completely gone
    • the shifting flare is still present when cold, not as bad, but still present. I'm interested to see if it continues when it gets colder.
    • surge when stopping was gone, but now is back and is the same pre TSB
    • the throttle/shifting is much more sensitive (which can be both a positive or negative depending on your driving style)
    • it does hold gear a longer in cruise, but the biggest difference is that it doesn't shift automatically to 4th from 6th, and kicks out of 4th to 5th/6th much quicker instead of getting stuck there. I rarely use cruise at all anyway.
    • it does seem like its trying to revert to my previous driving patterns, but wants to shift much more when city driving post TSB
    • it seems to want and rev-match a lot when city driving now, which it rarely, if ever, did pre TSB
    • I've noticed my mpg has dropped about 2 mpg in the city, but I'm running the AC a lot more now too. However, I contribute this to more shifting in the city post TSB, where before I could lug around in 6th easily and get 23 or 24 mpg. I always got better mpg in the city than on the highway in my particular truck.
    • I've notice a little more than a 1 mpg decrease on the highway (w/o cruise), because it won't lug and is much more responsive to shift to 5th when it should.
    • Seems like the sweet spot on the hwy is now 75-77 mpg (which could also be impacting the mpg, obviously), where before it was 65-67 for my specific truck and location. At 75-77 it will hold and pull most hills around here on I-44 (SW MO, some big hills towards the Branson area, but we still hit 4th gear on these.)
So, the verdict is still out for me. I loved to try to always squeak 23-24 mpg out of the truck, as it always made me smile. I have not been able to achieve this post TSB. I am much, much more satisfied with how it runs on the highway that pre TSB w/o using cruise. I am unsatisfied with how it drives in the city now, because it shifts much more than before. I'm not an aggressive driver, but the truck wants to be more aggressive.
