I have the exact truck (TRD). Please post updates when you hear anything from your dealer. My dealer tried but tech said not thing was new for 2010. May be you should repost in a new thread for 2010.

Just got back from having the TSB done at my dealership. They had the truck for about 2 hours.

    HUGE DIFFERENCE.

This is a must do TSB. I couldnt believe how smooth it makes the truck shift "out of the hole." I knew it was a bit rough shifting in the low gears...especially in the instance of say a rolling stop when making a right turn etc. This completely fixed it. No more of the herky jerky bullshit at lower speeds. It shifts smooth as can be without any major RPM movements.

    THANK YOU TOYOTA!

Went to the dealership today. Even with TSB in hand, dealership denied me the TSB service. The technician had "suspicions" it was a transmission fluid issue and wouldnt go any further until they check all fluids. I said no thanks and left. Was very clear they had no knowledge of this issue. Anyone in the Denver, CO metro area have the TSB done? If so, what dealership.
    Thanks.

I would have had a real close to Jesus talk with the service manager. How fucking dumb can they be to turn away business. It isn't like Toyota doesn't pay the dealership to perform the work. And the dealership is stupid for turing away a potential future car buyer as well. How do stupid people make money. If I ran my business like that I would be dead.

Wow! What an ass. I would definatly talk to the manager! I have an appointment to do mine at 0830 tomorrow and will test it out and post results as soon as I get home. Oh yea finally got my new stereo last week after waiting for over 4 months. Luckily I got a hold at a guy at corporate who is reimbursing me 2 months in payments since I had to go thur the radio issue with 2 different Tacomas. So I plan to take that and get some kind of in dash Dvd navigation installed. I am in Memphis so wish me luck.

I've been altering my driving style also. When I first got the truck I was thinking, "What the heck have I done. This thing shifts like a POS. I should have bought a 6 speed!" I've got an appointment booked for a week this Friday. Can't wait!!

I've got an '06 Prerunner with 45k on it and really haven't noticed any wierd shifting problems. Is it still worth taking it in? And if I do take it in, am I going to be paying since I'm over 36k miles?

my tacoma was slippy a little and at 500 miles l told the dealer ship they said it would work in, well 1100 miles still slippy, then they said l should make an apointment at 1700 miles l made an apointment and the tech reset the computor and it still slipped and then they flushed the system and now it's worse and they said to drive it, that the eng at toyota are working on the problem and they'll get back with me and the truck is slippy worse.

not to many, love it the way it is

be careful and do not take off to fast coming out of a coasting type stop or in a real slow yielding turn. I adjusted my driving habits after the trans slammed into gear the first time.

WOW, thanks for posting. My thought process in the face of such dipshittery is not exclusive! Even though they might get paid less for this type work, they should be asses towards Toyota not owners. If they were able to think further down the road as you stated then they wouldn't have to be such jerkoffs because they'd have plenty of repeat business to not have to worry about getting less for warranty or TSB work. Hopefully they'll go out of business faster with this mindless business model.

subscribed I have a 2010 truck that does the same thing. Toyota dealership said its a learning transmission, that it takes at least 5000 miles before it learns your driving habit. Uhh?? I will see....

I got the same line of malarkey from the service guy at my dealership. I'm pretty sure it's the same line that the 09 guys received way back before Toyota acknowledge a problem and issued this TSB.

I had my 09 into Stapp Interstate just after the TSB came out. They had no previous experience with this issue and they were having "problems" with their computers. I am taking it in again today. I am not real confident that the issue will be resolved. I will post back here tomorrow my results. What Denver dealership were you at?

The TSB 0373-09 only mentions 2009 model year but it's under the Toyota Federal Emission Warranty. 96 months or 80,000 miles from the vehicles in-service date.

My Coma has 6000 miles now and it shifts good. I can't tell much of a difference between the Coma vs my old Accord. The downshift response is fast when I have to pass on the highway. But the one thing that's different from other automatic cars I've owned is that it shifts slow from 1st to 2nd. Does the TSB cover slow shifting? I accelerate hard most of the time anyway to solve that problem.
