Anyone had any luck getting a 2010 re-flashed under the '09 TSB? Worst transmission I have ever had. Darn thing seems to be stupid and not know what to do at times. I have began to run the piss out of it, fuel mileage is suffering, truck loves it and so do I:D Drive normal and it is truely painful. I never know what the thing it going to do or not do. Passing is a chore to get the thing to respond. I have made up my mind after I return from vacation Jan. 3rd this thing is going back to the dealer. I completed my Toyota survey the other night and I let them have it on the stupid transmission. My build month on my truck was late in '09, Sept. my truck is not under the VIN range on the current TSB. Something is not right about this thing. The more I drive it the more I feel the problem. Feels like it clutches itself sometimes, irratic downshifts at speed, going into 1st sometimes under 20 mph then racing up, it has even dumb shifted down the up once under heavy acceleration almost like it skipped a gear then went back to catch it, crazy stuff:rolleyes: Truck only has 2800 miles on it and not many of those have been with a smile on my face. Two local dealers are total idiots I've had dealings with them in the past so I expect a fight. The dealer I bought this Tacoma from is the same one I bought my Tundra from. We had several heated rounds on the front brakes with that truck and it leaned like 4" to the left almost from the get go. I may just go straight to Toyota corporate from the get go.

I cannot help you on finding the link, but I hope someone else can, but I will advise you that you definitely need the TSB in your hand when you go to get it done. They tried to tell me there wasn't such a TSB for that. So have it with you (I think the 10s # is 0393-09) and hold out... Good luck!

FYI, There is a new TSB that addresses this issue and replaces T-SB-0373-09 which came out in Nov of 09. It has been replaced with T-SB-0393-09 which came out in Dec of 09. I had it done on my 2010 Tacoma this morning. I went in with the old TSB in hand. The service manager was a real jerk on the phone when I had called before. Acted like he had never heard of the problem. I called the Toyota 1800# and opened a case #. Then made an appointment to check out the problem. Well, when I got there not the service manager but the guy above him the director of service and parts was there to help me. It went smooth. He showed me the updated TSB. They did the update and it only took about 30 min. They even washed my truck for me! It drived much better now! I'm glad I had this done!!

Got my truck back from the dealer today. They did the trans TSB along with the leaf spring TSB. I didn't even mention the TSB and instead just told them of the problems. They took about an hour to check it out and then told me to leave it and they'll take care of both. The put me in a Corolla and I got it back the next day. No hassles or anything.

Drive it for a while and see what you think. For me, the trans issue was annoying and I got that one done, but right now I am digging the softer ride of the taco rear end so I haven't gotten the springs done.

We'll see about that one when the hauling picks up this spring!

I'm still trying to locate the TSB 0393-09 for the 2010s to print out. Anyone else find it yet? Also, are there any Tacoma owners in the Milwaukee, WI area that have had the tranny TSB completed by one of the locale dealers? I picked my truck up just under 4 weeks ago from Wilde Toyota. I'm going to give them a call next week and ask about the TSB.

I am so glad I got the TSB done on my 2010! It is driving so much better during my Christmas travels! The new T-SB-0393-09 still says that it's for 09 on the paper but if your dealer has any intellegence at all, when you tell them you are having trouble with your transmission, All he has to do is hook the truck up to the transmission wellness computer and it will tell him that your truck doesnt have the software upgrade! Good luck getting it done! The biggest battle for me was getting them to listen to me about it on the phone and take it in to check it!!

That's the best way to do it IMO. TSB is not a recall hence you get better results if you just let them know the problem. If you bring a TSB or mention it, they think you are experiencing a case of car-hypochondria.

I just told my dealer exactly what is going on and they found the TSB for me.

Added: This is especially true if they could replicate the problem.

Well this is my first post here, been a lurker for a month or so but thanks to you guys I got the T-SB-0393-09 on my 2010 DC Offroad. I have to say things run a lot smoother after it is done.

With that being said it was kind of a pain to get it done. I went in for an appointment at 9am and after meeting the service person they brought in a guy to go riding with me and see about the problem. Of course at first they acted as if the problem was something they haven't heard about. Anyhow I went along with it and told them I was having odd shifting from 2nd to 1st gear in turns. (Turning was when I most noticed it.) He asked me if the check engine light ever came on (of course no) and how automobiles have so many computers that if would come on if there was a problem. After making a couple of turns the truck had the shifting issue twice in a row. This was clutch cause I know sometimes if they cant recreate the problem they will act like your crazy. Well he went on how that was somewhat normal and that there was a TSB for the 2009 but not 2010. I then went on to tell him how I had a friend with a 2010 (you guys) who had the same problem I was having and that they flashed his computer and the problem was corrected.

We got back to the dealership and he told my service person that I was experiencing "the" second to first shifting issue and that there was a TSB for 2009 and there may be a TSB for the 2010. Ahh now all of a sudden there is an issue they have heard about before. Well then they sent it in to the mechanic and would look up if there was a TSB for the 2010. After about 30 minutes in the waiting room the service person comes in and tells me that what I am experiencing is 'normal'. Then she says there is a TSB for "harsh shifting" and that my VIN did qualify for it but it was not for same problem. I said well isnt that kind of what I'm describing to you? It is a harsh shift! Well that's when the crack in the veneer came out and she said they could do the TSB for me. After another 30 minutes it was done.

Anyhow just wanted to post my experience. It wasn't the easiest thing to get done and I was kind of annoyed that they acted like what I was describing was a mystery but it got done.

I cant wait to go hassle them for the leaf spring TSB but I guess Ill wait a little while before I start that battle.

PS I need to take a picture of the dealer write up for the fix and post it. It says how I was informed that it was normal for the trans to shift like that (abnormally higher rpms) from 2nd to 1st but that there was a TSB for a fix for a 'harsh shift' from 2nd to 1st.
Come on its the same thing!

Just got back from the dealer, had the reflash done on my 2010. All I can say is WOW what a difference. I told them about the tranny shifting problem and before I could tell them about the TSB he told me about it. Took around 30 minutes including a test drive.

So after finding out about the new TSB i made an appointment with Lakeland Toyota in Lakeland, FL. to have my transmission looked at due to my complaints of improper shifting between 1st and 2nd gear. I printed out the TSB and arrived at the dealership with it in hand and told them the problem, advised them I came accross the TSB and truly thought it would solve my trucks issues. The intake person read it, said "huh, handed it back to me and told me they would look at the truck tommorow. I asked if he wanted to write the number down or use the TSB at which time he asked if I had gotten it from the internet. Upon stating I had, he stated they don't put much stock in that stuff do to it being unreliable and they didnt need to use it for the repair. I bit my tongue and hoped for the best.

The next day, the actual service person called and stated he was able to locate a service bulletin which had solved the problem. Upon picking up my truck, i read on the receipt they had actually used the same TSB and had the number listed.

The truck is like I always thought it should be. Night and day difference and such a relief. Besides the intake guy totally disregarding my offer for assistance....which I suppose may be understandable....I am totally satisfied with the service provided and am so thankful to Toyota engineers for solving the problem!

I don't believe it because there's guys on here from Canada getting it done for f$#@ sakes!! Somebody give me some feedback??
