I went into the dealer on Monday for an oil change and tire rotation and I told them about the transmission issues and they took care of it within an hour. They reflashed the computer and so far, after a day & half, it appears to be fixed. Evidently, the local dealership has performed this on many occasions for the 09 & 10 tacos and I didn't have any issues.

They did my tsb it seemed to be working better for about a month. Then Noe it seems to be reverting back to original problem now I noticed on the tsb it says for the tech to put a sticker under the hood that says it was done but I have no stcker. Did you guys get stickers? Do you think there is a problem?

I think you were lied to. I suggest you tell your service advisor you want to escalate it, and ask how to do that. Mine relented, and they did the 09-393 TSB on my 2009 Access Cab. Lead mechanic told me the "learning" takes about 8 miles. It drives very nicely now.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
What is the friction pad tsb? I started another thread for this and probably didn't need to, should have just done this first. Anyway, what is the friction pad tsb? I've searched and searched and this is the only mention I can find of it, so what is everbody else calling it? Sorry to be thick headed, but I don't even know what a friction pad is or where it goes.

DENIED....Harrelson Toyota said there was no problem with my 2008 v-6. My VDS number matched. Harrelson basically wrote it up as if I just saw a tsb for this and wanted it done.......GOOD JOB TOYOTA

My dealership tried that crap with me on the AAL tsb. I wouldn't quit. After I filed complaints with the BBB and federal trade comission they called me back with an appointment. With all the trouble Toyota is having as it is you'd think they'd be a little easier going on a tsb. I have no tolerance that crap.

Don't know if there is another Toyota dealership semi-close to you but you could try that.

Well I just got back from the dealer at Ontario, Ca.
The did the 10k service and re flashed the transmission, I just showed the guy the TSB and that was it, no problems.
So far the problem got solved, I have to take the truck to a parking lot though, or drive it on the street for a while.

FINALLY got this done, and it's a totally new truck. Dealer felt bad for me because they accidentally mailed back the new radio they were supposed to install for me, so they finally did the TSB even though they said they "shouldn't, since we can't replicate it." Anyways...it works!

I had my 2010 DC TRD Sport LB V6 in today for it's first oil change today and had them perform the transmission TSB as well. The down shift, especially when slowing to take a corner and re-accelerating out of the corner, was SUPER ANNOYING! The technicians at the dealer, Walser Toyota in Bloomington, acted as if they'd never heard anything about it before, but I came prepared with a printed copy of the TSB from earlier in this post. THANK YOU TW!;)

They said they'd have to test drive it to see if they could replicate the issue and wouldn't do anything unless they could experience it, too. Well, after picking it up after work, it had only 1 more mile on it than when I dropped it off this morning, so they either noted the issue in the parking lot, or they just did went head and fixed it.

I don't know why they would have resisted doing it in the first place - it supposedly is just a computer flash update that takes 10 minutes or so to perform. And by now, they must have done it to a bunch of 2009's and 2010's.

Anyway, it all seems to be fine now - didn't experience the downshift after decelerating and re-accelerating several times on the way home. It appears to be all cleared up and I hope it stays that way. I'm really excited to drive it now without the transmission issues.:D

From what I can see, this does not apply to my 2008 DC. I find it does shift a little rough in lower gears. Anyone out there have this done to their 2008? Does it apply to the 2008? If so, can someone post the TSB? I cannot find it anywhere.

The TSB "ECM Calibration: Enhancement to Shifting Performance & Smoothness" (The reflash every one is talking about) only lists 2009-2010. So no it does not apply to the 2008, as I have not read the whole forum I can't answer whether or not anyone with a 2008 has had this done.

    "factory unloaded"
'09 2.7 auto factory unloaded edition here. At 10K it started doing weird stuff. Mainly a feel of slipping between first and second gear. I would see RPM go up quite a bit. It would not upshift. Let off on the gas, it stil would not upshift. It would only seem to slip if I drove it "normally", it would not if I drove it like I stole it. Imagine an 80's Taurus but worse. I was thinking AT fluid is low. Why else would it slip? (don't hate on me now, I would prefer a 5 speed manual but I drive bumper to bumper traffic and it would kill a clutch. 60 minutes to go 10 miles, really? Moving elsewhere would be off topic but an option).

Anyway, dealer checked AT fluid levels after letting it sit to cool. Then reflashed the software or whatever the TSB is and it upshifts correctly now. It also shifts at different points too, which I will get used to. It downshifts a lot faster if you step on it hard. It upshifts faster in situations where you don't want to step on it hard (co-worker with a takeout plate of some greasy BBQ he put on the passenger floor).

Whatever they did worked and has for about 1000 miles so far of very mixed driving. Just my input.

    Wow...
I noted a "confused transmission" when filling out the purchase survey/questionnaire on my 2007. I guess I'm SOL :(.

"Confused transmission" describes it exactly. Despite my previous post the strange shifting problem reappeared. Under 55 or 60 degrees F, after the truck has been sitting for more then 6+ hours, it has a strange refusal to downshift from 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd. Like when coming to a stoplight or someone pulling out in front of you abruptly. Normally under 35 MPH and only when cold (a few miles). It feels like driving over rumble strips or more accurately, like a manual transmission left in way to high a gear when slowing down. A lugging that can be felt throughout the truck. No brakes applied. It got so bad that my co-worker that I take to the train station on the way home can predict when it will happen at the same place every day.

So I took it to the dealership as it is under warranty. They were great about trying just about everything. But given that it was about 90 degrees for the couple of days I left it there they couldn't reproduce it. They did reflash something and change tranny fluid. Hasn't done it again but that was just yesterday and it is really warm at the moment.

I am not a picky person, I didn't buy a BMW, but I got what I could afford to get and otherwise love this truck. When it does this vibration...it isn't minor. It will rattle the truck very strongly.

Am I crazy or has anyone else had this happen in an '09 regular cab 2wd? Or similar? Thanks

i had the same problem on my 09 V6 AT, "confused transmission" is funny and absolutely the best way to describe it... anyway i had the TSB reflash thing donet about 300 miles ago and the problem hasn't come back. i'll update if it comes back but i hope it doesnt, its pretty annoying.
