No reason to think that is the reason for it... but you never know. I have driven other Toyota and nameless other brands, none act like this transmission. These transmissions are like this in all 2009 v6 automatics. It appears to be the design of the transmission and not a defect. The main complaint is at low speeds, when coasting, or slowing then maintaining speed, the vehicle downshifts from 2nd to 1st. This doesn't happen in the other gears. It does downshift and uses engine braking unneccesarily, but that is not the main complaint.

I took it in today, but they couldn't do it this morning. Their internet was down.and they can't pull up their TSB's. The tech drove the triuck and said that he understands the problem and said that the TSB is to recalibrate the transmission and he said that it should fix my problem. They also ordered the part to fix my rear trans seal leak, apparently they replace part of the shaft also. They are going to see if they can replace my rear spring pack, even though it is an 09. The service advisor said that he would call me.

I posted this info because I have received a great deal of info from other board members. I was just trying to help.

For those of you calling BS, why don't you go to a dealership and check for yourself. It's comments like those that prevent others from trying to help and contribute to the board.

I have a 10AM appt on Wed for a new idler pulley. If we can get a TSB number I'll see if I can confirm or deny.

The OP said above me that he has an appoitment to get a trannt TSB done consisting of some sort of reflash.

Relax.... We're not blaming you for the BS comments.... It's the dealerships.

What they tell you and what they actually do are two different things. If they actually recalibrate it - versus - just giving YOU a line of BS ...... we'll soon find out if it actually works. Afterall - you're expecting one thing to be fixed and you're assuming they know exactly what the problem is.
Do they really? Or are they just 'playing you' like a violen?

** sorry, again...this isn't on you. It's a lack of trust from dealerships all over the country that play people like a violen all the time.

I have a friend from Toyota corporate and he says that Toyota likes Tacoma owners sooooo much that they are going to release a TSB to swap our engines with a V8 or install a super charger for free!! You probably won't be able to find the TSB yourself but I have an appointment at the dealership today and, if their Internet is not down, I'll get the work started on my truck and then I will post the TSB number for you all!! :D

Seriously guys, give the guy a chance to follow through. It seems he is just trying to give us some helpful information. If he does not follow through with a tsb#, then call it BS all you want.
