Got a call from the service "scheduler" a few minute ago about my appointment. She couldn't find a TSB by that number. Anyway I spoke with her, and she was able to pull up something "on the tech side" which I suppose means the actual auto mechanics having a different system than her.

She mentioned it includes a part number?!?

Hardware change and not just software?

Gotta take the truck in for 6 month maintenance (even though it's not even to 3000mi yet) in the next couple weeks...gonna get this done while it's in there having the tires rotated, brakes inspected, etc.

So I called the dealer and they said that the Check engine light has to come on. So how do I make it? I will make it.

I never had any problems with my Ford Ranger 4x4, just the whole out dated thing. I really like this truck, just not this problem.

I would not accept that answer from the dealer. Either search out a different dealer or politely insist that they look up the TSB and ask for a service manager if they give you any grief. Don't take no for an answer.

Be persistent. There is a problem and there is a prescribed course of action.

I've got the TSB printed off right next to me. There is no parts number. They're recalibrating it.

I feel the same way. Glad somebody else said this. The lag is really not that big of a deal anyway. As for the engine braking and downshifting, I'd rather have it this way. When the engine is "braking" the the injectors are turned off too (saving a little gas). Probably prolonging the brake pads in the long run as well. :)

I went to the dealership today for my 2010 that has the same problem. The service manager is waiting to hear back for the correct tsb and part to be fixed. He told me the problem was fixed for this year, but apparently not. Any with a 2010 have this problem?

Yea but revving to 2k+ rpms before it shifts up again, where it should be in the first place, probably doesn't help the gas situation much. Not to mention the nice jolt when the transmission catches up.

I have a 2010 and have noticed some on and off problems with this shifting also. I contacted the dealer as well the other day when I first stumbled on this thread. They are doing some research on the problem now. Please let me know if you find out any more info for the 2010's and I will keep you informed as well. Thanks...

I just scheduled with my dealer to have the TSB done. I am getting done a week from friday on 11-20-2009. I may take it in sooner if I have time. I can't wait to see the results.

    Edrin55,
the dealership is supposed to call me back by Friday. So I will let you know the results when I get them. Mine doesn't do it all the time, but it's annoying when it does. Keep me posted with your results.

So do some people here owe me an apology for calling BullShit.

I can't take my car in until next monday. They ordered the parts for my trans seal and the rear spring TSB for my 09. I hope it is the 4 leaf pack. They said they would reflash my ECM for the tranny problem then.

Like I said I have a few friends at corporate and was just trying to pass on some good news. I don't know if it will fix the sloppy shifting, but at least it's a start.

Many on this board have been a great deal of assistance since I bought this tuck, I was just trying to repay some helpful people.

I like others hope this will fix the trans issue.
This is my first Toyota and was afraid I bought into the hype.
I understand all types have issues but this and the yellow sticker in my door has pissed me off! Good luck to all and I will be calling the local dealer here in Augusta GA. (CURRENTLY IN SCHOOL@ FT GORDON).
