    You can try grease but it will just wipe away .
    I guess it would work as a test .
    You need spline lube if you want the coating to stay in place .

    Spicer makes our driveshafts
    And they are well known for not putting enough spline lube on
    and they also make driveshafts for ford
    Use
    $19 Ford XG-8 PTFE Lubricant - 3 oz.
    Ford XG-8 PTFE lubricant
    Expensive and it doesn't wipe away

    Wanted to follow - up.

    I believe i got this corrected. The ultimate repair was a remanufactured VB from Central Valvebody.

    The cost of the sonnex zip kit and any added updates needed for the valvebody put me in the same dollar amount range as buying the rebuilt and tested unit.

    highly recommend that business!
