    Possibly, but my truck didn't have your symptoms. When mine is cold and I switch from P to D it would accelerate periodically. I don't know if that is part of Atkinson system. But it sure fills weird. I don't think I ever experienced something like that. I had a lot of different cars.

    How long is forever?

    I dropped mine off at the dealer at 8:25am today for service, including the tranny fluid check (specifically explained that I want them to do it properly, by waiting for the right temp, opening drain, checking for overflow, etc. - they totally agreed that that's the only way to do it), and got a call at 11:20am that the truck was ready to go and that tranny fluid was at the proper level. So, less than 3 hours all in.

    Too quick to have waited for the proper temp?

    // edit - spoke to a friend who's a Toyota mechanic - says it takes from 30min to an hour for the temp to go down from 70+C to 25-30C. Should be fine.

    The fill plug on the AT is much higher than the level check plug. It would be very easy for anyone to over fill it.
