transmission whine when cold?

    We have had some 30degree weather which is odd for us.

    When I put the truck in reverse this evening to back out of the garage I heard a strange whine..... It won't do it in neutral or park. Just drive and reverse.

    After driving a few blocks it stopped.

    Sound familiar?


    2006 Tacoma v6 with automatic trans..... Last trans service 15K ago with WS fluid.

    2019 Rubicon 4 Door,
    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Try putting it in neutral for about 15-20 seconds before shifting to reverse. If this eliminates the sound, then its low on fluid.
