I just bought a 99 tacoma prerunner and when i come to a stop, i get these chunk feeling right before i stop. It seems to be in the tranny cause if i coast in neutral it doesnt do it. Is this normal? Does anyone else have the same feeling?

Are you pressing the brakes in neutral? Is it specifically when the brakes applied ? Or does it feel tranny related?

How long have you owned it for? Did it do this when you test drove it?

Kinda sounds like a u-joint because it's not loaded when you coast to a stop in neutral. Give it a good shake at the front and rear of the driveshaft, any play and you got a bad one.

No play in the u-joint. I think it is in the transmission. Seems to be chunking to 1st gear

I know what it is. I dont think that's what it is cause sometimes I can come to a complete stop, and then when i let off the brakes it will chunk, but how would I test it?
