Hi all, I have a 2021 Sr with 4,000 miles. My only issue with my truck is that the transmission always seems confused primarily in low speeds. What I mean is in city driving and pulling out into traffic and stepping on the gas it feels like the trans is trying to figure out what to do before it decides to take off, and the delay is really annoying. Does anyone have this same issue? And is there a pedal control module, or a transmission tune I should look into?

As with your miles to empty thread, the search bar in the upper right will almost certainly render some immediate answers, to both these questions.

The stock config from Toyota wants to get into 6th as early as possible. It's annoying. Tunes will fix your issue. And stay away from any pedal control module.

ECT mode makes it stay in the power band a bit more, but autos in general, are a bit shifty, ime.

Like others have said, get a tune. They're all fairly similar and help the AT tremendously.

The AT in 3rd gen tacos is by far the worst AT I've experienced. It's indecisive and herky jerky when it does finally decide to up/down shift.

There is a button near the center console labeled "ECT" which helps a bit -- it apparently toggles to "engine controlled transmission" which if memory serves is an older, less computer controlled method of managing shifts. It did help alleviate some of the glaring issues on the AT, but was still far from great.

As others have said, a re-tune would probably give the most dramatic results.

It was a joke, there have been multiple threads about miles to empty, just as there have been many many many threads about the transmission.

No harm in looking for the information, you just happened to step on a landmine of what is one of the single most discussed Third Gen Tacoma issues.

I picked up a '21 SR with 12,000 miles on it and it shift nicely...give it time to learn your habits. The "Car Care Nut" on YouTube has a good explanation of how the Tacoma transmission works.
