Hey guys, looking to get a furry companion in the next month. Having a small cab I am pretty set on an Australian Shepperd. My family owns 2 of them and I absolutely love their personalities (I have yet to meet a dog I hate though :D). Labs are out of the question since I and my family are still feeling our last losses :(.

Anyways, I wanted to start a thread and see your guys thoughts on awesome breeds for traveling. I love mutts as well and there is a good chance I will find one locally that is mellow. I am ALL for rescuing an older dog that has a few amazing years left as well.

Daisy is the first dog I've ever had, wanted one my whole life. Rescued at 6 years old, she is about to be 10. She is a wonderful truck dog. Comes with me everywhere. Spends at least a few hours a day in the truck with me, never complains. Been on countless road trips to SoCal and beyond. Comes surfing with me every time and hangs in the truck til it's play time on the beach. Lab/hound/who knows mix. She was the only dog not jumping to the top of their kennel in the pound. Love at first sight.

X2 for older, mellower rescue dogs. She is just happy to be by my side.

I agree :). Ill be looking locally and down in Colorado for the right dog. We rescued one of the aussies and that one became very attached to me. I only was with him for a week when they got him but he never leaves my side when I visit. If my parents weren't so attached I would take him :D

You need a nice tongue hanging slobbering bulldog in the car with you. Just leave the A/C on as they don't like it hot.
