Has anyone traveled like 250 miles to get truck they want that is available that tour local dealers cannot get without ordering and putting deposit down? My local dealer told me he has one on order as of last week but still no allocation and may be couple weeks to get allocation. Then would be another 6 weeks guess. I always like buying local because if any warranty issues or problems you bought from them and they take care of it. I am thinking of traveling 250 miles and buying out of state but worries that as we know issues can and some will probably occur. I am very picky and can't stand rattles and issues that shouldn't exist and no today it seems like unless lucky always issues of some sort. I would feel they would say get in line we will get to u whenever

If they have what you want, at the price you want, I wouldn’t hesitate to go 250 miles.

250 miles isn’t really that far. It’d be a day trip there and back. And as for warranties. If you’re buying new it shouldn’t matter because the warranty is through toyota not the dealership

I've driven 500 kl for used trucks before, but my new one, I had the dealership bring it. I have no idea where they got it from, but it took 2 weeks.

You might be better off buying a different vehicle man. This is a great truck but by no means perfect. In fact, it has a lot of "special" little things that, for some, would just drive them batshit crazy.

There is usually a big difference between what a customer thinks shouldn't exist and what a manufacturer thinks shouldn't exist.

My advice is to look for a different vehicle.

Oh, many drive or fly to get that special vehicle.

I drove out of state 100 miles to get exactly what I had on order at my local dealer. Local dealer dropped the ball and thought they had it in the bag -- they kind of forget how to treat a long time customer. Anyway, got a great deal and would travel 250 miles like the OP stated without hesitation if I had too. Almost a year later not issues. Love my Tacoma!!

I appreciate it. And all that traveled for new truck didn't have issues with local dealer having to fix and work on all the issues? They didn't treat you as last because they know you bought elsewhere a didn't basically say take it to dealer u purchased it from

I haven't had any issues with any manufacturer and multiple dealerships from those manufacturers I've bought from. I have frequently traveled to buy. I've bought Ford's, Toyota's, and Subarus that way without issue. They make more money from the service department so they don't want to screw you over there. Lose you there, they lose multiple visits throughout the life of your vehicle . They won't bite the hand that feeds them if they plan to stay in business.

I’m traveling from SoCal to Oregon to pick up my cavalry blue MT sometime next month. Almost 900 miles. Looking forward to it.

I drove from Detroit to Niagra to get mine. Dealer basically paid the one way car rental too.

It was the right price, right color and right options. Was very difficult finding a DCSB 4x4 manual TRD sport in Blue Ribbon Metallic.

I've done this twice in the last 20 years. I have twice now used a small company located near San Diego, CA (San Marcos) that is like a buying service. For $150, they will search all of California and the surrounding states for the vehicle you want. Their guarantee is that if you are able to get a better price on the same vehicle than they can get for you, they refund your $150. I'm not a haggler, and about 25 years ago, I had a terrible experience trying to negotiate with a dealer, so I gladly use these folks. In 2000, they found a Dodge Cummins diesel truck for me in Norco, CA, which is about 450 miles south of me. In April 2017, I again used them to find my Tacoma. It came from Santa Cruz, CA, which is only about 200 miles from me. In both instances, they saved me several thousand over what the window sticker was when I took delivery, and I am extremely happy with them. If anyone is interested, the company is called Auto Buyers Consumer Service.

Yes. I traveled that far to get my 2nd gen because my local dealer sucks balls. They do that "best price" take it or leave it crap, so I leave it.

Your Warranty is valid in every State in the Country, you do not have to go the Dealer your purchased from.

I bought mine 400 miles away. Flew out, drove back. Nice reason for a road trip! Spent some quality time in the saddle.
