I think it pulls it pretty nicely. You definitely know its back there but i've certainly had way worse towing experiences. I do not have a WDH, I just added sumo springs and it sits nicely. We are loving it though.

Some A frames have toilet shower options. I have been looking at them online lately and think that is the route I will be going in the future. My wife is small and will make use of it. I like that Falcon too but seems much less wind resistance on the Aframe.

This is my second A-frame and they tow and work great if they fit what you want. If you buy new I suggest doing a special order and have it built without the roof bubble windows. They have a major water leak problem with all A-frames.IMG_20170414_131849636.jpg IMG_20170414_131744106.jpg IMG_20170414_131849636.jpg IMG_20170414_131744106.jpg IMG_20170414_131849636.jpg

Have you looked into a hybrid trailer at all? They cut down on the weight while adding sleeping area and space inside.

I have a 2013 Coleman CTS192RD and we love it. We had looked at some bigger/nicer units, but decided on this as it was half the price. We have had it 4 years and love it. I think this would work perfect for your family. I had a 14 Tacoma when we first bought it. Then we traded the 14 Tacoma for a 14 Tundra. Now have a 16 Tacoma. There is not way I would tow a rig bigger than this with a Tacoma. It tows it OK, but you definitely know its there. Just make sure you get a good Takonsha brake controller and a good weight distribution hitch w anti sway. Oh, and some good mirrors.

Here is a link to the floor plan and specs. The exterior pic on this page is incorrect, so ignore that. One thing I noticed about that model that you liked is the fresh water tank is tiny and they gray/black tanks are tiny. That would concern me. Note on my floor plan that in addition to the bed in the front and the dinette that makes into a bed, the sofa is also a jack knife sofa that becomes a bed in seconds. You could make the dinette into a bed for the younger one, use the sofa bed for your older one, and have privacy in the bed up front.

We bought our 13 in 2013 used. Well, lets just say I was the second owner. It was never actually used for some reason. Only paid $12,000.00 for it.

Here is another one you might like. These can be picked up super cheap too. I like these for size, function, price and they come with an available Baja edition that offers larger tires and wheels and better ground clearance. With this option, you can use light truck tires and not have to buy crappy Chinese trailer tires that fail and blow out all the time tearing up your rig, leaving you stranded, and endangering your family. All trailer tires are made in China, and they suck. They are dangerous.

It's frustrating trying to find a short trailer that checks off all the boxes. If one is not in a hurry go on Craigslist and scroll through, you'll see a wide variety of brands and models that hopefully helps one narrow the search.

I figure there are some basics that have to be considered with short trailers, I'm assuming peope that want a short trailer also want to dry camp at times.

Of course, sleeping capacity and comfort, but then there's the other things that might be the difference between keeping it or being dissatisfied.

    - Fresh water tank size. 30g + is a good thing.
    - Enclosed and insulated underbelly
    - Fridge and freezer capacity
    - 3-burner stove
    - Double sink
    - Counter space
    - WINDOWS!! The more, the better. Ventilation and natural lighting is a good thing.
    - Passthrough storage
    - LP capacity
    - Dual batteries
    - Short rear end, axle-to-bumper. Tacoma can haul a trailer through rough terrain, but if the trailer rearend is dragging that limits the versatility
    - Inside shower and toilet

There are trailers that meet all that, but hard to find.

Wow that looks like way too much for this truck. Just not safe.

Agree. At 5,200 lbs that is just too big and too heavy for that small truck.

Hybrids, anything canvas on a trailer people tend to move on from them if they use it often.

Hybrids are awesome for interior capacity in a short trailer. We liked the Kodiak 166E hybrid. 52g fresh tank, 39g gray, 29g black. Huge fridge/freezer, two queen beds with the canvas foldouts. 40lb LP, dual batteries.

Trouble was nobody liked sleeping in it. Mostly in cold weather, but full sun heats up the canvas to uncomfortable levels. There are sun reflectors, but a PITA.

Tried to sell it for $9k, no bites, donated it to an animal rescue outfit that uses it as a mobile clinic in remote areas. It was certainly a good offroad unit.

It's difficult to find a hardside short trailer that has amenities.

Agreed, don't understand why folks think it's too much. The trailers now are aluminum and resin, lite weight. Your trailer is awesome, enjoy.

it's not about what they are made of it's about the weight of the trailer loaded. The reason people think it's too much is because the GVWR of the trailer exceeds the tow capacity of the tow vehicle @ 7000lb. Dry weight 5,200lb + propain + batteries + water + 2 adults + camp gear pushes the limits.

I'm haven't seen your setup, I'm not judging you. It's on you as the owner to make a correct assessment of your situation taking into account the conditions of your travel etc - but to not understand why people "think it's too much" just doesn't make any sense.

Minium, I see where you are coming from. I did a lot of research on this before buying and between fully fueled, three adults, 500lbs in the trailer, I still have 1k left before hitting GVRW. However, I have pulled her with full tanks a couple of miles to dump her and can deff tell a difference, but only on acceleration. The tools and safety systems today are just right.. Of course as long as you know what you are doing..
