Buys rust free 2nd gen Taco. Parks next to ocean.;)

And yes, finding older 2nd gens with totally rust free frames is hard to do. I'll stop just for the heck of it when I see a nice one on the side of the road, amazing how as nice as someone takes care of the body, they totally ignore and neglect the frame. It's just not that hard to do, nor that expensive.

It's not just a "rust free" frame, that truck looks like it just rolled off the assembly line.

yes planning on doing all gear fluids, power steering, coolant, spark plugs, and MAF sensor, throttle body cleaning. Brake fluid was changed by dealer prior to my purchase.

I was so excited reading your narrative up until you said, you wanted to trade the "Skewp!" lol

So, then it won't be stock...anymore...which defeats the purpose. lol

Hey! I was just in SoCal Apr30-May6 visiting my mom/step dad.

Sorry, it's Mother's Day and already my wife is knackered (tired) and is taking a nap while I meal prep for the upcoming workweek.

BTW, one of the reasons I've stayed with automatics is because my Scottish wife never drove when I met her in England.

When I started to give her lesson back in the early 90s on an Isuzu Rodeo 5sp, she did not catch on very well.

    On another note...

Looks brand new, congrats! I have traveled cross country multiple times to buy vehicles and never regretted it. It's a great way to take a road trip

During covid, in 2020 I searched online for a year to find a 2015 AC with low miles. No one was selling because that was one of the best years.
I ended up ordering a 2022 Sport AC and waited 10 months to get it. I picked it up on my birthday.
Congrats , you have yourself a real unicorn. Enjoy.

Long trips for new vehicle acquisitions is one of my favorite things! Congrats OP. Looks like you're planning on fluids and PM, but don't forget about hoses and other mission critical rubber components; those deteriorate with time as well as miles/thermal cycles. My opinion would be to get dealer parts while they're still available..and also to leave the scoop. :)

Japanese vehicles have some incredibly long lasting hoses and such on them. I yanked the OEM original one off my 93' Miata doing a full drain and the damn thing looked new inside and out. Stupidly impressed. [40K miles]

My coolant hoses still looked to be in pretty good shape and I really debated a bit reusing them, but I was literally replacing everything...so why not. PCV, vacuum and emissions hoses were at the end of their life though. I think coolant vs. gas/oil exposure seems to make a big difference (same trends noted on my older Subaru as well).

I imagine the sales guy telling the previous owner “We can’t offer you much. This is an old second generation, access cab is less desired, and nobody wants a manual these days. It’s going to sit here a long time, the best we can offer is $8k.”

30 minutes after posting for $22k, he has 10 calls on it.

Nice truck! Welcome to the club.
