I have a set of used TRD headers I pulled off my ’04 Tacoma for sale. No issues with them, I had to pull them off in order to pass SMOG in the state of CA.

    Headers P/N 00602-17141-003Y-pipe P/N 17141-014

    Fits 5VZ-FE engine

    Tundra 3.4L V6 2000 – 2002

    Tacoma 3.4L V6 2000 – 2004

    4Runner 3.4L V6 1999-2002

These should fit earlier model 5VZ-FE engines as well and will pass CA SMOG up to model year 2000 per executive order D-425-5

    Asking $500.00

if these are smog legal why did they make you take them off? I want headers on my truck but don't want to deal with removing them every 2 years:(

I have an '04. Apparently the exception for these tubes on the engine only rolls up to model year 2000. Believe me, I looked for every damn exception I could find. Can find the document by googling D-425-5. Alternatively google Executive order D-425-12, this is the EO concerning model year thru 2003 (document was signed in 2003) all other part numbers for these headers EXCEPT those ending in 003. Bummer.

So these may be legal in CA in the coming years, but because my truck is an 04, no dice.

Long story short these should fit T-100 trucks using the same engine up to 1999 and pass smog in CA but I'm not totally positive. Buyers really should be living outside CA; I bought this truck out of Colorado

If I already didn't have my Doug Thorley I would maybe jump on these. GLWS! How big of a PITA is that flange in the crossover that sits directly above the transmission?

maybe it's just me but I'm failing to see why it would fail (I read the PDF). considering there are 6 other versions of the same pipes. would be interesting to see why they are not smog legal :notsure:

If I had the spare cash I would consider but without any real performance boost to my non-modded 3.4 I can't justify :(

    GLWS!

I just registered my Supercharged Toyota 4x4 with the TRD 3.4L headers/exhaust system. The smog mechanic 'visually' failed my first attempt because the part number on my headers(00602-17141-003) wasn't listed in the latest CARB executive order update D-425-12. The reason is... D-425-12 only lists part numbers for the entire TRD exhaust systems, not separate parts individually as in the headers, the 'Y' collector pipe, the connector piece that welds to Catalytic Converter, etc. The TRD exhaust 'system' part number for my truck IS listed in the CARB EO (00602-17141-007). To clear this up with the smog tech that failed me, I downloaded a copy of the related exhaust system's installation instructions. The first page shows the system part #00602-17141-007 then lists the other part numbers in the kit. Including the numbers on the headers he referenced when failing my first smog check. The final hoop I had to jump thru, if you haven't guessed by now, to track down the correct, related, CARB D-425-12 Executive Order underhood sticker. Impossible. They don't exist. Officially. I had to design one to cover the correct wording, part numbers, and specs matching other CARB/TRD stickers, and have it printed. Passed without a problem. If you need one of these stickers I have eleven extras right now. $15.00 shipped. 20190309_162318.jpg

You should make the TRD supercharger CARB stickers, I'd definitely buy one.

I nearly had this same issue my last smog check with my TRD headers...the tech said that my headers only exempted up to 2003 Tacomas but not my 2004, but that he'd "let me slide" ....I thought that was strange because I have the CARB sticker for them under the hood. I really hope I dont run into trouble this year when I have to take the STAR test. I'll keep this in mind if I do run into trouble though.

I passed a Star test in January of 2018 and easily passed with my 4cyl that has a Doug Thorley shorty header . The header has a CARB legal EO # D-540-6 stamp plate on cyl #1 Primary tube

You, me and a whole lot of others would love to get some TRD long tubes. But they haven’t been made for years. Just keep in mind some of the early versions of the TRDs had leaking issues that were later revised with a updated design.

EDIT: what I wa trying to say is that guy is long gone. Last login was 2016

I passed too but the tech told me he was 'letting me slide' because my header's CARB sticker didn't cover the TRD headers for 2004 Tacomas, only up to 2003...which makes zero sense but I didn't want to argue with him since he was letting it go. But I'm worried about this year now because the STAR test is more strict. Anyhow I saved that sticker the OP posted in case I need to get one of my own created.

Let me know if your state forces you to get rid of them. I’d gladly help you out by taking them off your hands.
