TRD, aFe, or K&N CAI or just aFe dry filter for 2013 Off Road?

    Some stuff...
Decisions, decisions.... Not even 500 miles on the mule yet.

So the question is do I go with an aFe dry filter and call it good for 15,000 to 20,000 miles? Or go for the gusto now with a full CAI right off the bat like I did my Stang years back?

Please weigh in... Have a 96 Taco that is in rehab, and just took delivery (after a custom order ordeal) of my 2013 Off Road with TRD short-throw, TRD CAT-back, Toyo bug deflector, side-step nerf-bars, etc. etc...

    Thanks and peace!

The AFE dry drop-in filter (like the one I'm running) is good for "life time" of your truck. Just vacuum it every six months or so.

CAI benefits forced induction setups only, so buy it if you plan to add the TRD supercharger in the future. With the stock engine, the CAI just makes more noise (and not necessarily the good kind). Some people go back to stock after they are sick of the sound.

And doing mods while the truck is new is a good idea. It's less fun when the engine bay is caked with dirt and the bolts had become rusty.

Had a afe stage 2 si on my 06 offroad. It made an improvement over the k&n drop in i had before it. Better throttle response and the engine sounded meaner. That said i’m gonna stay stock on my 13 because the high flow filters let fine dirt threw into the engine. I really couldn’t tell a power difference. So i’m not gonna go that route this time around.
