TRD air filter vs paper filter for engine longevity vs performance

    Purolator paper filter is the best to avoid engine damage and hassle. We drive trucks meant to last a long time, not performance. Most of the big box brand of paper filters I'm sure are fine though. Reusable oiled up filters are bad. The increased airflow isn't worth the damage being done long term. Realistically, most of us will sell or total our trucks before it comes to that, so pretty much anything will be fine.

    I checked rock auto and the shipping is as much as the filter...

    Has anyone found a good deal on tje air fiñters somewhere?

    OEM paper air filter only. Everything else is completely pointless and might cause engine damage. Even running the engine without air filter at all does not give any performance gains on this 3.5L

    I was a believer in oiled filters for years, but once I discovered a fine layer of dust in my intake tube, that POS “TRD” filter went straight into garbage. Never had issues though.
