I thought it would be interesting to check out some differences between the stock filter, and the Toyota TRD performance filter
So obviously-the yellow one is the stock one, and you can see- it’s thicker (deeper) than the red TRD one

Here’s another interesting fact- across the bottom of my stock filter is a long strand of what basically looks like hot glue… hmmmm I would not want that to slowly breakdown over time and drop down into the intake…

    is yours that way?

I’m not sure what your point is here. Do you think one is better than the other? If so why? What the cost difference between the two?

Looks like a K&N and you have to oil it, if that is so, take it back :anonymous:

The glue will not break down, but if you wash and oil your TRD one incorrectly your truck will suck oil in.
I would return it as they are more trouble than they’re worth, especially as it sounds like this is the first time you’ve seen an air filter…

There is an undisputable advantage to the TRD air filter.

If you have one on your truck when you bring it to the dealer every 5k miles, the dumbass teenager rotating your tires wont try to sell you a new $20 filter for $150...

That makes it truly high performance in my book

Asshats will even pull it out and make a video of themselves rubbing it.

Like they already went to the trouble of the R & R of the damn thing, how about you charge me the $ 20 for the new filter and just put that back in there? But no! Those jerkoffs want an exrta $130 to make it right.
