That's the JWL logo. It's like Japan's version of saying it's DOT tested.

    https://sdtwdirect.com/wheel-safety-standards/

"JWL” (Japan Light Wheel Alloy) is a compilation of standards defined by the Japanese Government to ensure the vehicle’s safety for aluminum road wheels."

Thank you. I had a set on my 13 tx/trd and got the wildpeaks put on without issue. However, they came on that truck and it wasn't even a second thought. Now that I have brand new shit I paid a chunk of change for, it has also changed my perspective of what to do. Just finished putting the rings on while they're still in the box. Glad I did as it seems like it'd be a pita to do with the wheels on the truck. For what it's worth, 75 in/lbs are the torque spec. Seems a little light but that's what's recommend by factory. 2 of the wheels must have been boxed on a Monday as the loctite was super thick and on the starter threads. Had a mild panic attack thinking they may get cross threaded. Definitely didn't want the kids at discount tire putting them on. Damn I can't wait to have these beauties back on a taco...

Light? These rings are not load-bearing in any way. 75"/lbs is a bit of force.

They aren't? Don't they hold the outer bead on? ;)

Just saying they didn't feel very tight. You can get 75 choked up on a 1/4 in ratchet

They’re fake bead locks. So no, they do not hold the bead whatsoever.

I would mount the rings before getting the balancing done. Might not matter, but could prevent some wobble issues.

Just being a smart ass. But that's something I definitely didn't consider was the balancing aspect. Good eye

Yup it sure is! Talked to my old man over the weekend and he pointed that out. I was reading it upside down as 'MC' or 'NC' something like that

Interesting that, from what I read at least, the JWL standard isn't very enforceable (if at all). Manufactures do their own testing and apply the logo as they see fit. Anyway, didnt mean to sidetrack the thread just got curious about manufacturer.

Not load bearing, unless you try to push rocks with them :D I've had a few back out on me over the years. I typically do them up decently tight with a 3/8 ratchet.

I bought my set from someone who took them off of an FJ that was equipped with them from the factory so presumably the rings were applied at the factory, port, or dealer (maybe to spec, maybe not, who knows).

I've never removed the rings and neither did any of the tire installers the couple of times I've changed tires. The first time I actually thought they had scratched the clear coat to hell but it was just a ton of lube left over from the mounting process.

Edit: Forgot to mention, no issues so far, no lost bolts, and to my knowledge no damage as a result of the mounting process but the wheels were already not perfect since they were used and they've been on their fair share of rocky adventures under my ownership so I can't say for sure which blemish may or may not have happened during mounting.

I'm not too worried about the rings though, a few dents and scratches plus southern California sunshine and the clear coat on them is still intact everywhere.

I know the old number was PTR18-35091. Not sure if that changed or not

Anyone wanna swap? I got black ones on my truck and I really want a bronze set. Mine are in excellent condition just one small scratch on one of the rings. Located in AZ.
