TRD bilstein vs bilstein 5100?

    So I got a question, forgive me because I am not a mechanic, but I have an 09 TRD and am wondering if its worth it to upgrade to the bilstein 5100's? A member told me on here that there is no major difference in the shocks? But kind of sounds crazy to me? Help!

    Totally diff. Improved ride a lot. By that I mean it stopped feeling like I was driving my dads buick; the truck felt more connected to the road and worked much better in turns. It is a stiffer ride but not uncomfortable and is way better with a load in back.

    Large difference...I wouldn't go get auto advice from who ever told you that any more....

    The TRD shocks are a fleet grade shock. The 5100s are built for the Tacoma and a bit more suited to heavier use. I don't have them...but the design work shows a clear difference...and then add all the folks who use them here....the 5100s are better.

    If you were to buy 5100s, would it raise your truck any? If so would it be eaqual all around? for example: "the bed is higher than the cab?"

    front are adjustable......but can be left stock if you just want the improved handling and bump characteristics

    if wearing them out is your criteria, it will be summer 2020 or so when you change them. The fact that they are OEM spec and fleet-grade they are still bilsteins and will last a good long time.
