I want to get a TRD blower this year and I have an intake manifold spacer and was wondering if I can run both together. The IMS Iis not installed yet but I'm thinking of installing it next month and getting the blower around summer. What are your thoughts?

Why would you do that? The IMS reduces power, don't use it. It is snake oil and a complete waste of money. I know, because I had one myself many years ago. Luckily I sold it used and at least got some money back out of it. Why TRD? Have you checked these out yet? http://urdusa.com/store/Forced-Indu....html?osCsid=e5fe86c446fc0a6754cfb494cfdda913

I read in a post that the IMS will cause clearance issues with the trd blower install. Its been mentioned in one of the threads in TW.

Do you guys think I can install the IMS and take it off when I go supercharged?

Yes, but again you will actually LOSE power if you put it on.

You could do that. As with already been said the spacers do very little. On the old carburetor motors they helped but do very little on newer stuff. Waste of time and money.

where is your proof for that.

An intake manifold spacer like XTP's creates longer intake runners by being placed between the upper and lower intake. This creates more midrange, it was quite noticeable on my truck when i installed it.

That stated throttle body spacers are pointless in this day and age of port injection / direct injection.

The intake manifold spacer will cost HP?

I'd expect that from a throttle body spacer, but not the ims.

    Bummer

Just to be clear your asking about an intake manifold spacer not a throttle body spacer?

You would need a longer belt to run the ims..its been discussed before in another thread if I can find it. You would be raising the supercharger

The IMS actually gives you a nice boost in torque and power at low rpms. I noticed it, went wheeling with 33s same hill before and after. Saw the boost while crawling truck was less hesitant.

You will loose mpg with it, tho I have found that if you run 89 or better on highway and or while towing it brings it back up to mpg levels before installing IMS.

It be impossible to use with a blower you loose all alignments and belts would be wrong length. it is a good inbetween, going to hopefully go blower later this year if funds remain!

I just learned that with a TRD blower, you have to change the spark plugs every 30k and that it's not an easy feat because it involves removing the supercharger. Have any of you experienced this and what are your thoughts?

I'm also lacking in the torque department. That's why I am thinking about the Intake Manifold Spacer (which I Already have) to gain some lower end power.

I'm pretty darn sure you don't have to remove the super, I'll look on my buddies truck next time I see him.

90k like lobster said...... Use swivels and the right extensions and there's no need to pull the blower.

I'm currently running Denso IKH20 spark plugs right now. I believe those are iridium. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Can anyone else confirm that I would lose power if I install an INTAKE MANIFOLD SPACER? I'm looking for a little more around low to midrange power.

Same here. I've seen the dyno results, it does move the power band lower so you'll get more low end and mid end power.

To OP if you plan to run the TRD SC I wouldn't bother with the IMS. I'd get the smaller pulley like a 2.85" if you want more power.

...At the cost of peak HP. Personally I strongly believe this dyno to be BS, but there it is. http://extremetruckperformance.com/?page_id=300

Correct I would like to see more dyno results to see different variations. I'm not a big fan of the mustang dyno either.

Thanks for the dyno's. I the TRD blower is out of my league. Found one for $4485 and dealer would charge me $1440 to install. Thinking about doing a pre and post IMS install dyno myself. Let me check pricing on that.
