    Hello Everyone,

First post on the fourm. Anyone ever experienced issues with these wheel cracking? I've owned these since new and have 180k on them. They have always been removed and tightened by hand. When crack was found nothing was loose or excessively tight. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thank you, John

    thats nuts!
Those are pretty hard to find unfortunately, but you may get lucky with your VIN to be able to get a replacement.
If you have to part out your bronze, I’ll take one if you’re east coast.

    Oh look, another mod....
One common cause of a cracked rim is driving on a flat or low tire. ... Running over a pothole or a curb are common causes of cracked rims. Another common cause of a cracked rim is damage to the tires from salted winter roads. Over time, contact with salt can cause the metal rims to rust and corrode.

Cost to repair ranges from $80 to $125 for a small crack; while rim replacement cost $200 to $500. Cracked wheels, by all means, is the most challenging type of damage to fix.

Driving on cracked rims should be avoided as the least impact can cause a blowout and result in an unfortunate accident. If you spot any signs of a crack or related damages on your rims, pull over and ask a certified mechanic to check it.

I doubt you’d get a freebie after 180K, but call Toyota to see about a replacement. You’ll need your VIN to purchase a new one.
You can recoup some costs by selling the center cap and ring when you get a replacement.

Yeah and I'm extremely disappointed. I'm actually in Florida so if I decide to get rid of the wheels I'll let you know.

here is a link to your wheels, about $235 plus shipping and tax... https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/__/ALLOY-Wheel-TRD-FJ-16Wheel-BRONZ/16103651/PTR1835090BR.html found with only a couple of minutes of research (ie: interwebs search)

That crack is right at a lug hole, the crack can easily happen if too tight of a torqueage. I had a tire shop phuck up a rear wheel lug when they remounted after a balance. When I tried to remove the lug nuts one of the studs just broke, all the lugs where too tight on that wheel, fortunately the wheel survived. The stud was EZ to replace. Your wheel is too...

If anyone else has a source for a new or used wheel please let me know. Even if you only have just one.

Huh? I thought you said you ordered it? Anyway, if you spend time on EBAY and want to cruise the wheels, you should be able to find a used one (there are a whole lot to look through). In the past I have used Discount/Americas Tire, they had/have a used wheel program from 'take off's'. I rerimmed my 2000 Tacoma from the stock 15" alloys with 17' alloy rims for about $250 (4 rims). Got $85 for the old alloys at the recycler... You may want to check with them and see if they still offer take off's...

    Just a thought...

If you find a place that repairs cracks on the face of the wheel, you've found a place that doesn't know what they're doing.

Never try to repair the face of a wheel.

Amen, wheel crackage plus the tons of heat to repair = left with very brittle alloy, no bueno...

It appears lakeland may have these in stock…
I can only tell you what I experienced when I looked for a set of these over a year ago.
I’m sure the dozens of threads over the last year or so asking why they can’t find these either in bronze or black just didn’t know how to use google either.

Well somebody else also mentioned that Is Lakeland Toyota showed them. I actually ordered one from them just a few hours ago but their parts department is closed today. I have this feeling that they are going to contact me and tell me it's discontinued but we'll see what happens.

The fact that none of the “official” Toyota dealerships have them says volumes.
I hope you get lucky though, good luck my man!
