so from what I can understand from the link above and other research I've done is that the TRD is the better choice because it doesn't have the opening, but the Pro Dry filter is easier to maintain. So could I buy a TRD CAI and put the AFE pro dry filter on it?

They both suck air from the inner fender just like the stock intake. Only the afe has another hole in the bottom allowing it to suk more air! Afe makes the trd part and the afe's box is designed better! And it's cheaper! All your getting with the trd is the name!

Correct me if I am wrong but as for the hot air issue. As the truck is not sealed at the bottom the air from under neath will be sucked into / out of the engine bay (also why it gets dirty) hence causing a cooling effect?

This would make the additional air inlet receive cool air as it is far enough from the engine.

Just 2 cents for the mix.

But when you are moving is when you are making power. Idell is not the same? In either case as above both are great. I went AFE as it was a better design I felt as it gave more air flow.

Plus you can add a front ram air setup possible because of the lower inlet port. Which you can seal with the included hardware ;-)

Just ordered my TRD CAI from shoptrd.com. It was 325 shipped. I tried emailing the ebay seller and no response for a week now. I have the TRD exhaust so I'm hoping it will accentuate the deeper sound. I'll let you guys know.

Hello there, been looking here and there on the internet about CAI for newer Tacos, I just bought a 2009 TRD Sport, looking to get a CAI, and seems the AFE Pro Dry is the ticket for me, but it seems theres quite a few in that manufacture's line.. just wondering if theres someone out there, with the AFE Pro Dry, and if so could they tell me how much it was, and where did you purchase the CAI, also last but least a part/product number so I don't buy the wrong one. :)

    thanks
