Good for you. It's not your CAI though. It can't be. It can be:
    Air pressure
    Driver input
    Time of year
    Speed
    Altitude
    Barometric pressure

and a whole litany of factors. Your aftermarket CAI is not the culprit. No matter how much volume of air it passes, your engine will only accept what your ECU tells it to accept. The temperature of your air will be the same too, as it draws from the same exact place.
Now, at wide open throttle, you will get a few more HP because in that condition, your ECU is allowing all the air available to enter. But only at WOT.

Think about it: Toyota and every single other vehicle manufacturer spends billions every year to make their vehicles just tenths of a percent better with respect to efficiency. CAFE rules will save them billions for it.
You are telling me that, if Toyota just used a $20 different air filter they could increase their efficiency FIFTEEN PERCENT? C'mon man.

Glad you are getting better mpg though. Cheers!

Confirmation bias is strong in this thread. If the TRD did half of what people are claiming, Toyota would make it stock to raise it's fleet averages.

Not sure if this is new thread worthy or not, but I have noticed a significant DECREASE in MPG since installing the TRD CAI. I installed the Borla cat back and saw what seemed to be a very, very slight increase (I usually average 22.0 mpg city/highway, noticed about 22.2 with the Borla), but as soon as I put the TRD CAI on, it dropped to 16 and won't climb above 16.5. Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible that having the battery unplugged for the 30 minutes install reset something that the truck will need to "relearn"? I'm definitely not driving it any differently before, shifting between 2.5-3K (boring, I know), it's kind of concerning.

You will go faster because your wallet is lighter.
Since when does a truck that tachs out under 8K needs more air. You have a CAI with no major restrictions, so unless you're drag racing and banging gears at 8K I wouldn't worry about it.
CAI's are more about getting cool air to the sensors and not retarding the timing, more than air flow.
If you want a little more performance.....get a tune.

Nope. I have one. No difference in performance. Just a little better sound and I like the looks of it.

If you could simply stick an air filter in the truck and magically gain 2 MPG then every manufacturer would equip them that way from the Factory instead of spending billions of dollars trying to gain tiny increments of MPGs.

I put a TRD cat back exhaust and Intake on my 2010. In stock configuration I could climb Floyd Hill on I-70 west of Denver in 6th gear (manual trans) and top out at 65MPH. With the TRD parts I could hit 75 and it was still pulling. I love the sound also.

You guys can say what you want but that doesn't change the fact that I saw an increase in fuel economy and it will definitely not change my mind

I think I got marginally better economy for a couple tanks then it went back to normal. Which has been my experience with every CAI I've put on every vehicle I've owned.

I'll say the same thing I say when ever this question comes up, remove the charcoal filter from top of the stock air box, widen the intake tube in the fender wall, and get a straight pipe that eliminates the resonator, from autoanything. YoullY probably see the same performance(which is negligible) for half the price.
