I have the TRD pro which comes stock with TRD catback system. Was wondering there was a difference between the muffler on this vs the standard? Or is the muffler on the TRD system unique to it?

I'm really trying to figure out if I should replace the muffler with something like a magna flow to get just a little bit more noise? Or if it's a waste of time / won't make much of a difference...

The muffler is absolutely different than standard, it's probably still Bosal that makes them.

Bosal makes a very good end product... that costs less than half of other aftermarket products on other applications... a trd sticker makes it worth 250 more

Does bosal make an aftermarket that's the same as trd?

So do I keep it or go with a magna flow?

I'd check out the sound in person, your probably better off saving for FI if ur looking for HP... TRD probably would have contracted magnaflow if they were better... just saying...

Is FI what it already is? I had a Magna flow on my last tacoma. After 3k rpms they sound similar but during idle the magna flow signed better than the pro

FI is forced induction. With that bosal system it is Dyno tuned for the best performance. I'm not a Toyota guy... persey...(this is my first one) but Iv been tuning cars since before F&F was a thing...

If your after performance, higher flow cats, headers, chip... TrD PRO is already intake/exhausted out

It's all in preference, I have not heard a TRD exhaust on 3rd gen yet. But 2nd gen wise I prefer the TRD over anything else I heard. It takes the bumble away and keeps it at bay.

My Magnaflow exhaust is 3" - the TRD exhaust is 2.5" so be aware of that when looking for just a muffler.

If you want some more sound try a drop in TRD air filter.. it's $60 ish.. may be just what you're looking for.

I'm running the TRD cold air intake... Thing has a silencer on it though. Was wondering if I cut the silencer off and sealed it up if it would help.

I was wondering if I should do that to my TRD intake as well. Do it and report back. Hah.

Oh OK you have the TRD filter in there already.... what silencer? I have a TRD intake as well.. I had just a TRD filter with stock box and it was louder but the performance is better with the TRD intake.

To answer your sound question between a TRD cat back and a magnaflow... changing just the muffler to a Magnaflow will definitely yield more sound but there are a few if's... There are many different lengths that MF makes. The short the length, the louder your output sound will be. Regarding performance, you'll see no difference (this is a bit of an assumption). As MF makes their mufflers straight-through, there is less resistance. I'm not sure how the TRD mufflers are made but I don't really think you'll notice a performance difference.

You're talking about the resonator. Theoretically, if you remove the resonator and find a reliable way to seal up the hole after you cut it off, you should also get more sound when the engine is rev'd. The resonator is quite a bit smaller on the TRD CAI as compared to stock.

Thanks for the info. I might end up going with a shorter MF muffler than.

In regards to the resonator - what's is the purpose of it?
