There's a reason why when you go to the Toyota corporate site and look under PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES for the Tacoma that you don't see anything there but the CAT Back. It's the only PERFORMANCE accessory that's CARB legal and all others should be considered as aftermarket whether or not it voids warrenty or not. If Toyota says it won't pass smog than I would believe them and look for options or do as others have said and put the origional back on before smogging.

    The solution is.............

Get the TRD Supercharger, it comes with the CARB sticker.....

If/when you get pulled over or smogged, just tell them the CAI is part of the Supercharger kit, most people think it is all one part any way, unless you tell them different.

    Worked for me.

    =D

Toyota says it is not legal for use on the street because it removes the charcoal filter, which is an emissions part. Like P.Bauer said...Most emissions places wont notice.

Both of the K&N kits for the Tacoma say they are NOT CARB exempt. I put the TRD on mine. I'm not worried about the inspection as it looks stock to me.

lol that's what I was thinking.

Well, it doesn't mater too much but I guess if you really were skeptical don't give polie an excuse to look under the hood/buy a S/C kit/tell them it was stock. :p
