I have an opportunity to get a TRD exhaust for my 2017 SR5. Is there any benefit to installing it on my truck? I’m pretty sure it will sound better, but I don’t know the physical/technical differences in the stock exhaust versus the TRD.

My understanding is the only benefit is a different sound. Some like it better, some don’t. It is a difference muffler, the rest is pretty much the same.

It is a full welded stainless steel, sounds great, no drone whatsoever, and there is a noticeable butt-dyno difference. And it is a Toyota parts, can’t get much better than that. I installed mine under 500 miles of my truck being brand new.

Slightly better flowing muffler, bigger tip (chrome or black) with TRD stamped into it, improved sound. I want one myself. Do it!

Not really a performance upgrade, more than likely, even IF it6 makes a difference, you won't be able to tell, the sound and the fact that you want it to work will make your head think that it "feels faster" but unfortunately it doesn't.

It’s one of the best sounding 3rd gen exhausts. No drone when cruising but nice sound when you step in it, it’s pretty mild actually.

It won’t add any performance to your truck though.

Is $400 around the price y’all have seen for resale on the forums?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I paid $500 for mine second hand from a '05 that was installed in '06. I installed on my '08 in '13. In 2020 when I traded it in on the Tundra, still as solid as the day he bought it, 14 years old. I always liked the sound, and you can't beat the quality. For $400, I'd say yes all day.

I'm joking, no hp gains, but damn it sounds a lot better.

The one I’m buying is from a 2019 TRD Pro. It should fit my 2017 SR5, right? Both trucks are double cabs with 5’ beds.

By itself it is useless, unless you go with a tune and the intake.
