    Hi all,

I'm a first time poster looking for some advise. So, I took the taco into the dealer today for my 15k service and they offered to wash the vehicle free of charge. I picked up the vehicle, brought it home and gave it a quick inspection. During the inspection I noticed that the TRD graphic was flaking off around the edges and as the freak I am its really bothering me. Id swear it was not like that about a month prior, which was the last time i washed it. Should this happen to such a new vehicle? If not do you think the decals material is defective? And if it is defective should it be covered under warranty or would it be considered normal wear and tear? I know I could probably remove it and replace it myself but I'm worried about damaging the paint/clear coat.

Take it to the dealership and it should be covered under warranty I think.

Warranty for sure. I'm a little OCD, so I would be looking for evidence of body work in that area. Especially if it's just the one side.

    Welcome!

Yes, should be covered. They're easy to peel off too and won't damage your paint/clear-coat, just add a little heat with a hairdryer. I removed my stock silver decals and replaced them with black TRD decals no problems.

this is why 1. you never get your vehicle washed at the dealership.

    2. never take your vehicle to the dealership for stuff like oil changes and tire rotations.

DONT TRUST THEM AS FAR AS YOU CAN THROW YOUR TRUCK!

I'm a bit sketched about the free oil changes. You think they mess with the vehicles or just are careless? Or both !!??

Two months ago I took my truck in for toyotacare.

Received a small scratch on the hood, and all my tires were inflated to 37LBS ( they should be at 29).

Its like an assembly line when it come to toyotacare. Personally I think they should remove the word care out of Toyotacare.

    Yes.

Well, not everyone 'messes with it', but there will be those who would take advantage of loose change and other small items.

And not everyone is careless. But it is a very low wage job, boring, and w/o much future. So it would be easy to lose concentration and whoopsee.

If you could talk to an HR person, you'd likely find the turnover rate of those jobs to be pretty high.......... a problem indicator in almost any field.

Problem is, it's unlikely you know who will be touching your vehicle the day you take it, and what kind of day it will be for them. So I prefer not to take that gamble.

When a guy works on vehicles that cost more than he will make in 2 years, yeah, he isn't going to give a darn.

I'd agree at least with 'few'. There are still folks that take pride in their work, and are thrilled to have a job, regardless of how insignificant it may seem.

I'd like to think that some of them are in the roles we are talking about.

However, because I have no way to know if our truck will be handled by such a person, I pass.

Driving into work this week I heard a story on the radio about a guy back east somewhere who bought a car from a dealer (don't think it was Toyota but can't remember), got the free service for a year, used it and a little after it was done with ended up throwing a rod. Turns out the dealer never once changed the oil or did any service to the car, they only said they did. While definitely not the norm by any stretch, stories like that freak me out a bit when it comes to dealers now.
