TRD Headers on 3.4L, California legal?

Hey guys and gals, my '04 I got recently has TRD headers and I noticed the TRD sticker under the hood states that they are legal for emissions in all 50 states.

However, I've read an old thread on here from a member saying that they needed to remove their TRD headers to pass CA smog tests. So naturally, I'm a little worried now that I might be screwed come time to get my truck smogged. Does anyone have any experience with these and CA emissions? I'll contact Toyota to find out for sure but just wanted to see if any of you here had any recent experience with this.

Seriously, If they are 50 state legal, you have nothing to worry about. A header is exhaust directional piece like a stock exhaust manifold. It neither adds or removes fuel, spark, or air, but it does decrease resistance of out flowing exhaust which increases flow that sometimes can be misinterpreted by the ECM that can cause a rich or lean condition. Most likely a lean condition. When radical custom changes in engine items like cams, cold air intakes, turbos, superchargers, headers are installed, they tend to be way outside of OEM engine parameters and need custom tuning to get them to play nicely with the engine.
In your case, everything you have, headers and supercharger have been designed BY Toyota. Meaning all the components should play nice together.
If you are worried about it, take it to a Toyota dealership and ask them.

 

I'd believe the sticker. Don't offer any info to the inspector. When they ask pretend you know nothing about cars and point out "oh what's this label".
