I've seen as many people have problems with them (oil getting onto MAF sensors, etc.,) as folks happy w/ them. There has even been some tests done (would have to search) on Dynos that show NO improvement in performance - there is a change in the tone of the engine so it will make some noise which many enjoy. If you're in it for power or mpg you're better off putting your money toward the tune

If your talking about the TRD complete intake... save your money. But if you are talking about the TRD drop in filter, it maybe be worth it. For more power? No. But the stock filter is paper and the TRD is made out of better material and also user serviceable. I got mine for ~$35 so I feel it was worth it.

Yeah the regular drop in one. Where’d you get it for $35 Iv only seen them for $60. I like that it’s reusable It’s basically Toyota’s version of a K&N

I personally don't like reusables. Brand spanking new air filters are what, $15? $15 once a year, that I don't have to clean, dry, oil, clean up, then re-clean and re-oil because you didn't put enough or too much, blah blah.

Simple drop in. Done. Filters just as well, if not better, depending on your cleaning and adequate oil saturation skills. If you notice any real performance gains, I would be very surprised.

Iirc trd filters are non oiled media. Mine came with truck, pretty sure it’s just Afe dry or equivalent
    Edit:
I’m wrong. Not sure what I was thinking of. Checked the truck and it is intact red oiled trd filter. I confused it with my other car that has afe dry filter.
    I’d advise against oiled filters.

My mistake, my filter is red trd variety. On the sticker says that it needs cleaning kit which is available at local dealership.

Hey I was wondering if I could possibly get the part number for the air filter? I went to my local seeker to get it and they can only sell me the entire kit and I just want the drop in k&n style Toyota filter. Thanks in advance

If you look one up on eBay you should be able to find the part number and it will probably end up cheaper from there also.
