Just put the exhaust on today for $560. 20% off parts coupon at my local dealer. I didn't expect any gains just wanted a "better" sound with a better tip vs. just the stubbed out pipe. I like it but won't be doing the intake.

My experience with tuning is that we got more power down lower in the RPM range, with INCREASED MPG using regular fuel. Higher octane doesn't get you more power it just decreases potential for knock (secondary firing in the cylinder).

Air flow has a direct influence on power... your engine needs O2 to make a fire and produce power, the more oxygen the more power.. the whole deal behind turbos.... push more air into the engine. Of course the engine needs to exhale so a free flowing exhaust also helps with more power.

Tune the engine so it doesn't require back pressure generated from an exhaust that doesn't breath well, is one goal with tuning, but that requires both more air flow into the engine and better exhaust flow out of the engine.

Maximize benefits of all that we have at hand; ECU tuning, exhaust and intake.

All this will come eventually. Tacomas are selling very well.

Tip sticks out a bit much and hangs a little low compared to the ones I've seen on the pro trucks. Or is it camera angle ?

Maybe just the angle. Here's another shot from the back.

How does it sound compares to stock? Would love to hear some clips on this exhaust.

Sounds really good but IMO, clips don't really tell you anything. I've heard some online and it's just not the same. Definitely better than stock but quiet cruising with no drone. Deep and mellow / smooth without being obnoxious.

The air injection pump is located on the passenger side front fender, under the hood, and the AI Pump interferes with the TRD Performance Air Intake Airbox body.

The dyno-tested TRD cold air intake system creates more horsepower and torque by bringing cooler, denser air to the engine. The cold air intake features a low-restriction air filter. It also incorporates a vacuum indicator that automatically indicates when the filter should be serviced.

I had the TRD exhaust on my 2nd Gen truck and it sounded sweet and I noticed a little better throttle response too.

Oh they tried to come at me with $920 something until I called their bluff and showed 'em list of $699 everywhere. I got 'em on that coupon but hell, they sent it to me.

you are obviously new to the Toyota market. Newer Toyota ECMs (05+ on the Tacoma) are locked by Toyota and do not support any kind of aftermarket or third party tuning. There are no legitimate tuners or programers available that will yield any marketable results worth spending any money. There were a couple options on the 1GR-FE that allowed you to run a piggy back computer but they were not a big seller and this was quickly fixed by Toyota and stopped at 2009. Supercharged motors had the option of running the UCOM piggyback up to 2008 if you were running the URD Blower or the TRD reflash for the more common and factory supported TRD Supercharger (now Magnuson)

After running a baseline on the stock truck the intake is going on first. Then another run, and then add the exhaust to the mix. I have a couple leads on dyno time already

I wonder if that comes with the TRD version of the K&N drop-in at the prices they're asking. Those filters aren't so great for the fine gritty stuff.
