I won't regear as the stock gear ratio will be sufficient with the 32 or 33's I'm planning on installing eventually. I also don't tow. The stock gearing on the 2017's MT trans is 4.30 (which is what I have). EDIT: It looks like the 2017 AT trans still has the 3.909 gear ratio in the V6 engine while the 4-cyl AT trans has 4.30. MT in the V6 engine still has a 4.30 gear ratio. Source = http://www.toyota.com/tacoma/ebrochure

I have the auto 3.91 ratio, and the torque is not like the generation 2 I last had which towed my boat quite well. I don't go long distances but have a few bridges to get over which is when things get clammy. I feel this truck needs more torque at the wheels to get things moving and keep it moving, after speed and settling in at 3000 rpm it has same the same tow feeling overall but it lacks low end umph off the line which is my concern. Thank you for your input, I missed that you had the M/T.

I am still waiting on my order...it's been 2 weeks. I found out two of the items are on a national back order from Toyota. The upper air box is one and I believe the filter is the other. Just and FYI...

Thanks! Should be able to find all the parts or the full kit for around $350 online. Install is a breeze. If you can change a tire, you can install this intake.

Yeah, it's over $400 for sure. Maybe even close to $500. Definite rip.

You should be fine keeping the stock filter. The performance improvements come from the air flow accelerator, smaller resonator, and straighter air flow. While I did get the TRD filter it was more for its lifetime durability than for performance. I kept the paper filter for when the TRD filter needs to be cleaned. It just shipped Wednesday, the expected delivery date is Tuesday. I did order from OEM Part world, the only way to reach them is via email.
I live in RI, after I ordered that I shopped around for the lower dash panel and found a dealership in Richmond VA. Their prices were just as low and shipping for me was substantially less.
I didn't realize OEM part world is in WA.

Will do, it's still expected to arrive tomorrow. If it doesn't rain, I'm hoping to get it installed tomorrow too

i just purchased the kit, like the sound. Question: one of the photo's on page 1 shows a TRD decal in the ending compartment saying that it has a re usable air filter...my kit did not have this, is this one custom? Toyota says not part of the kit? Thanks, Chuck

I don't want to hijack this thread, but...for those who have installed the TRD intake, do you have any fitment issues. I've attached a couple photos of what I mean.

    Thanks. 20170410_160425.jpg 20170410_160526.jpg

Yes, mine is the same...I think thats as it was designed. The red silicone boarder of the filter prob. makes a seal.

I did, I assume it forces the cpu to reset and during its cycles account for the new airflow and add fuel accordingly.
    But, like I said...assume
